My worst experience in Paris, Racist waiter!! My mum and I went there for dinner as it was recommended by friends, an old guy came to us after we sat down there for 10 mins, I politely said hello and asked if any chance he can speak English, he then started mocking the fact that none English speakers speak French, always French people speak English, I didn’t think much of it and even joked back that some Canadian people speak English and French! He completely ignored me and then asked me if I speak French, I said unfortunately I don’t, I wish I could though, he then said but you are in France!! as I suppose to speak the local language just because I am a tourist here according to him! don’t think he travels much himself so he can be so narrow minded.
I started to feel uncomfortable and didn’t want to carry on the conversation so I asked him if it’s happy hour, while pointing at the happy hour menu that says 16h-23h, sadly the rest of the happy hour leaflet is all in French so I just wanted to confirm that it includes Monday as well! To which he replied:” can you not read numbers”, I said I can but I just want to confirm if it includes today! I was about to order, and he turned around and left!! He went to the bar where the jug of water is placed 1.5 meter away from our table, so I thought he wanted to bring us water, but no, he spent long time there refilling water, walking away and back few times, and no intention to come back and continue serving us, just ignored us half way through the ordering! We were fuming to be treated like this as from the start to finish, we were polite enough and did not offend him, but he was so rude and disrespectful, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. It’s a massive shame as French people we met in Paris are pretty much all very nice , very friendly and welcoming, which gives such a nice reputation to the city, but this guy completely ruins our impression, and left us absolutely fuming…
I don’t recommend anyone coming to this restaurant unless you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen while spending your money, which is so wrong!
This gentleman, I hope he goes out to see the world more to learn how to be respectful to other people’s difference.
In conclusion, not only I won’t recommend this place, I will actively tell anyone I know not to...
Read moreThe food here was disgusting. I ordered my meat 'à point' (medium). It was delivered to me not just underdone - all but the outside top and bottom were refrigerator-cold, raw meat. I'm not afraid of blood and in the UK or US order medium rare. Knowing that the tendency in France is to cook meat less, I always order it medium and it has never been a problem in the time I've lived here. Seriously, it was like someone had taken the meat from the package and given it 30 seconds on each side. It was too undercooked to even count as rare. It was food poisoning waiting to happen.
My husband had ordered his well done. What he got would qualify as very rare. The inside was entirely pink, but it least it was not refrigerator-cold like mine. Instead, it was lukewarm. Anyhow, we got the waiter's attention and asked to send them back to be cooked longer. The look on his face was like I had just asked him to shoot his dog.
Aside from the raw meat, the rest of the food was just an ordinary sort of not very good. On top of that, the service was unpleasant. This is the only truly bad restaurant I've been to in Paris, and I've been living here for a year, plus visited many times before that. Avoid....
Read moreHated the experience here. Ordered a sharing platter of meats and cheeses from the Mise en bouche (appetizers???) menu section which was brought to the table a minute before our main course was also brought. Why?? The tables are tiny and so two adjacent were pulled together and the food dumped on there. The people either side of us were clearly annoyed and giving us 'the eye' and tutting expressions because they wanted the tables for the extra people joining their groups shortly afterwards. We ate the food without enjoyment and couldn't wait to get away. Just a horrible experience that made us...
