Hôtel Joke - Astotel — Hotel in Paris

We stayed at the Joke Hotel for 3 nights after our Airbnb fell through. We were so happy to find this place! It's an adorable little hotel in great area of Paris. We walked to Montmartre and Galleries Lafayette and then took the metro to other landmarks. It was super easy to get to places and the metro access is extremely close. Moulin Rouge and Five Guys is a few steps away and a few bakeries and patisseries we discovered with delicious treats. We absolutely loved our rooms. They are so stylish, bright and comfortable. We had room 603 and my son loved the extra space to run around. He even made a little "house" in a small nook of the room with the balloon shaped bean bag. The tea provided is delicious and free minibar drinks were a treat. All the amenities and more are here. We had the breakfast for one morning and there was some delicious food including their roast potatoes and ratatouille (didn't care for the scrambled eggs they were quite watery-but later I discovered they had boiled eggs so it was OK!). The coffee/tea station in the lobby all day is great because we would make one in the evening and sit in the dining area and play games (we found chess, memory and Connect 4). My son really loved that and it was great to unwind with the family downstairs. It was always quiet. Of course the bonus treat is they set up a station with some bread, biscuits and other sweet treats from 2pm-2am (this was late the first day). The selection isn't extensive and most items are pre-packaged but still it's great to have access to this if you're feeling peckish at night and just need a little something. I could not have had a better experience at the Joke Hotel. We stayed at the Joke Astrotel for 6 days and 5 nights. The check-in staff is super friendly, the room was quiet and the perfect size, and, most importantly, was cleaned to perfection every single day. (This is coming from a germaphobe.)

The Joke is about a 2 minute walk to the Blanche Metro station on the 2 Line, as well as the Moulin Rouge. Definitely catch a show there if you can (book early!). There are TONS of awesome eateries & cafes a short walk north. Despite being in the busy Montmatre, I always felt very safe walking home late, and it was always very quiet in my room. I had no issues with road noise or noisy neighbors.

The biggest perk to staying at the Joke Hotel was our access to the other Astrotel lobbies, scattered all around town. They were the perfect places to rest our feet, use the free wi-fi, grab some espresso, a snack, hydrate and use the restroom. All of the Astrotel hotels we visited had the CLEANEST restrooms in Paris.

We ate the breakfast buffet for 3 mornings. It was perfect to fill up on before a long day of sightseeing in Paris. The buffet was only 10 euros and had a fantastic variety of food: cheeses, baguettes, croissants, meats, vegetables, eggs, yogurt (dairy and soy), fresh fruit, cereal - and the list goes on. It was the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Vegetarian friendly.

The complimentary mini-bar in the lobby was a huge perk too.

Pro tip: Try the artisan boulangerie across the street. Great sweets & baguettes! There's also a SUPERB Mediterranean/falafel shop on the south side of Rue de Douai street, as you walk west toward the Place de Clichy Metro stop.
