Horrible experience. When we arrived at the hotel La mondaine after an 8 hour travel period we (My partner and I) were told our room was ready early and that they had given us a free upgrade. The room we got was not compatible with the room we had booked; for example we were promised a room with a balcony and a shower, both were not available in the current room we got. Also the general look of the room was not compatible at all with the pictures on booking. So we went back to the front desk, thanked the ladies for the upgrade but that we really would like one of the superior rooms we booked online. The answer we got was that none of these rooms were available due to an overbooking. We then were given a different key for another room. This room was complete horror. It was a medievel look, with a bed that you could lay in with barely 1 person (see pictures). So again we went back to the front desk and showed them the type of room we booked with an overlay with all the pictures of every superior room they had provided on Tripadvisor. They then said we could get the room we booked but that they there for had to replace a regular client to one of the rooms they previously showed us. They even said and I quote “We are taking a risk to put the regular in one of these rooms”. We then goth a key for the 3rd room, (we are almost 2 hours at the hotel right now so we are losing valuable time of our city trip) again the room was nothing like the pictures they provided on the site! We are students and we felt we were being played and not being taken seriously, so we asked if it was possible to cancel our stay because they did not offer us any room with the promised facilities or looks. They called their boss and we called tripadvisor, tripadvisor told us we could get our money back because they were lying about the facilities but that he had to check with his boss and the hotel so he would call us back. After half an hour we got the call back saying the hotel now was offering us a 4th room with all the facilities they promised us. At this stage we were so angry ( I speak French and they did not know and they were saying that my girlfriend was a princess with all her comments about the room not having the promised facilities) and tired that we just declined the offer of going to even go see the 4th room, we just wanted our money back. Because we declined this 4th offer we were not eligeble for a refund because now they were offering us a room with all the promised facilities and tripadvisor could not help us any further. We then had to pay half the price we payed in total to cancel and book a complete new hotel. I hope no one ever books with this...

Read moreIf you want to feel like a rock star or an actress hiding out from the paparazzi in a secret and gorgeous boutique hotel that is convenient to all tourist destinations, this is the place. Our stay was more than excellent! This hotel exceeded my expectations. My family and I were absolutely enamoured with everything about La Mondaine. Decor: First off- the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The decor is so beautiful, I am about to completely redecorate my own master bedroom and bathroom to match La Mondaine. I was so inspired by the stunning interiors that I just wanted to sit and drink every tiny flawless detail in for hours. Location: We were more than pleased with the location. It is easily walkable (4 min or less) to Place de Clichy metro, Blanche metro, and bus services. It is a 5 minute walk to Moulin Rouge and various tourist destinations in Montmartre. It is also walkable (me with a roller bag and a large heavy leather tote, plus a handbag!) from Gare du Nord if you are clueless on the first arrival in Paris. After being there though, I know how easily to get to and from the Gare du Nord via the metro. But that first day in Paris, we were clueless :D Breakfast: Heaven. The breakfast is pure heaven. Eat the breakfast. You will feel like a true Parisian having coffee, juice, and croissant on velvet sofas while the open windows usher in the soft morning sun as the neighborhood gently awakens. Available stores and restaurants around: There is a fabulous brasserie right across the street, Les Bistro des Galopins that is enjoyed by the locals and not touristy. They welcomed us so graciously. There is a convenience store where you can get snacks, bottled water, toothpaste- all kinds of things- catty corner on Rue de Clichy to your left when you exit the hotel. There are lots of banks and ATMs around. There are restaurants with sidewalk seating everywhere. I mean, everywhere. Hotel Staff: First off, Hélène is the absolute best and she went out of her way to make our stay special! Also every single person who works here is of the highest and best in customer service I have ever experienced. They all made us feel so welcome and were ever so kind and just truly nice. When we go back to Paris, we will...
