The Laz Hotel ruined my vacation.
At first glance, this hotel is great: it’s beautiful, in a good location, close to great restaurants, the metro, etc. It’s modern, has amenities like the pool and spa, will hold your luggage if you arrive early, and the rooms are very spacious by Parisian standards. It even smells nice!
However, I personally would NEVER, ever recommend this hotel. Want to know why? Because even though I placed the “do not disturb” sign on the door, housekeeping still came into my room - and stole my jewelry, specifically my late (dead) grandmother’s earrings off the bathroom counter. I know they entered the room, despite the “do not disturb” sign, because they made my bed & took out the trash - and the “do not disturb” sign was now on the floor. I didn’t want ANYONE in my room; I never let housekeeping in my room at any hotel, for this exact reason, so I always place the “do not disturb” sign on the door.
The male manager definitely seemed to “care” when I asked about this. But nothing was done & he seemed angry when I suggested that they could have possibly gotten stolen. He assured me that it must’ve been an accident - that they must’ve fallen off the counter in the cleaning process and ended up in the trash; however, with where they were left, with all of my other toiletries surrounding & those being undisturbed, that would be an impossibility.
I left the hotel the next day, but went back before leaving the city a few days later because I wanted to see if they had found anything. The male receptionist this time was very helpful actually and genuinely seemed to care. He got me in touch with the overall hotel manager (female) who I once again told the story to & was asked “why are you just telling us about this now if you checked out days before” (despite already talking to the male manager days before). When I told her where the earrings were in regards to the other things, it was clear she didn’t think it was an accident - though she’d never say. She called the outsourced housekeeping staff manager who basically told me “we would never steal stuff” and “[the maid] said she didn’t see the sign hanging on the door.”
Long story short, the cleaning staff will enter your room despite any “do not disturb” sign being left on the door, and they will steal your things.
And for all the non-english speaking visitors looking at this hotel: le personnel de nettoyage volera vos affaires Das Reinigungspersonal wird Ihre Sachen stehlen سوف يسرق طاقم التنظيف أشيائك il personale delle pulizie ruberà le tue cose 清掃スタッフがあなたの物を盗みます 청소 직원이 당신의 물건을 훔칠 것입니다 a equipe de limpeza vai roubar suas coisas el personal de limpieza robará tus...
Read moreOur stay was terrible and the standards of the hotel were ridiculous:
1/ On arrival at 3:40, i.e. after initial check in time, we were told our room was not ready and we would go for a stroll (!) and come back in half an hour. We came back one hour later and the room still wasn’t ready (then at least we were offered a drink).
2/ Once arriving in our room, we notice that there is no bathtub and we are told that the "terrace with roof view" doesn’t have a bathtub. Here is an extract of the hotel website page on the room: "perché au 6ème étage avec une vue sur les toits de Paris. Occupant un étage entier, ce loft s'offre comme une belle parenthèse parisienne avec l'exclusivité d'une terrasse de 16m2 pour soi dans la capitale. Spacieux, Lumineux et bien agencé, sa literie française haut de gamme et ses équipement offrent tout le confort nécessaire à une halte hors du temps: belle douche à l'italienne, baignoire unique et centrale avec une vue sur le Sacré Coeur, lit king size etc...." - I was then explained that there are two lofts and the one with paris roof view is not the one with a thub and that I should have booked the one with view on the sacré coeur. Both the fact that there are two lofts (as only one appeared on the reservation page I was directed to) and the fact that the paris roof one is without thub, is highly unclear form the website. Worth noting that the website has changed since Sunday but I still have the picture of the website page indicating the description of the room I booked.
3/ Sunday 1st July was very hot, we were told that AC worked but was slow and a fan was given for the night. Some sort of air was coming out of the "AC" but after an entire night with the AC on, it was sill 30° in the room. The night was terrible because of the heat and in spite of the fan. In addition this does seems to mean that the hotel doesn’t not have AC (or at least the staff could have avoided saying that it was working but was slow).
4/ Upon going in the shower, we noticed that the shower gel holder was empty. We asked for shower gel which arrived more than 30 minutes after. Good that we were not in a rush to get out.
5/ We had ordered breakfast in the room for 7:15. At 7:25, since no one came, we called reception who had no trace of our order. Too bad as this time, had to get out to take a train, so in the end we had to eat...
Read moreEverything about this hotel is 10/10! If you're looking for a gorgeous boutique hotel with decent sized rooms, great service, amenities and great location. This hotel is the place to book.
The location is fantastic for those who want to be close to city center but a far away enough to escape the craziness and have a quiet evening. We loved that it was close to 3 major subway stations. Liege, Europe and Saint Lazare. This allowed us to travel anywhere in the city easily. There were also many cafes and restaurants near by. We found a great little Italian restaurant just a 3 minute walk and its a definite must-try (Bar Italia).
The rooms are a very generous and decent size for a hotel in Paris and the bathroom was gorgeous! It really made coming home after a long day feel extra luxurious.
The main reason why we booked this hotel was because of the spa area. We saw that it had a small pool, sauna and steam room and it really didn't disappoint. Although the spa area is small, we never experienced it being crowded, we had a lot of privacy every time we went down and I think for a city like Paris, having this extra amenity really makes the hotel shine.
The staff are friendly, accommodating and efficient and their bar is open until midnight! They also have ample space for you to hang out for drinks if you want.
Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend booking this stay and I would definitely rebook with them if I'm ever...
