2/10 I wouldn’t stay there again.
Check-in When I called asking for check-in instructions because we were arriving the next day, they said: Why are you asking for instructions? When you go to a hotel you don’t receive instructions, so why are you asking me? Of course this is a flat not a hotel, and I have always received my instructions ahead of time for Airbnb so this felt uncomfortable and unfriendly. The man over the phone is very rude.
Towels When we checked in, we noticed the towels were wet. I contacted the man in charge of the check in and he said: They are clean but maybe not dry. Which obviously seems silly.. why would you put folded wet towels in a flat rental? They also smelled of damp. Thankfully we were given fresh towels some hours after. Towels are thin and low quality.
Bedding Pillows were hard and old. The bedsheets not ironed and all creased. Also no bathrobes! So don’t be deceived by the pictures like we did! They will only give you a 2-3 samples of shampoo/body soap so again, don’t be deceived by the pictures that show big tubs.
Location/Safety If you are staying in St Louis you need to know that the flat is on the ground floor and faces the street with big shop windows. Those windows don’t have any privacy sticker, just a simple thin curtain and some blinds. Putting the blinds down means you won’t have any natural light. People will come and hang out outside the flat and seat on the window, so if you are a woman and staying here on your own you might want to consider staying elsewhere.
As other reviews have stated, the door and window seem flimsy so they could easily be broken into. The sound proofing is non existent, you will hear every person coming in and out the building and the bell ringing. There is little to no ventilation and the flat is very cold. There is one air purificator but that’s all. Also sewage smell coming off the kitchen sink that stunk the place out.
Cleaning Unfortunately, the flat was also not clean to standards of charging €250 a night. The cockery was dusty and what had been used by the previous guests was left drying and not even put away. I was disgusted to use anything straight from the cabinet.
I wouldn’t recommend booking this stay. If you are within your cancellation policy I would advice you to cancel your booking and find...
Read moreWe were given no check-in or check-out instructions. We had to wait with our bags in front of the door. Luckily enough, I added the number given here to WhatsApp and messaged Mehdi through there to which Mehdi replied shortly after with the instructions. When we entered the unit, it looked like the pictures, relatively clean and the location was central but the nightmare was just about to begin in the evening: -
It was SUPER humid and hot inside despite the cold weather outside. Just very bad air circulation inside if any at all. There is a fan and an AC, however it is super loud and after a couple mins of turning either one of them on, there is a constant leakage from the bathroom ceiling which makes going to the bathroom impossible unless you're ready to get drenched. This was communicated to Mehdi but she just asked where the leak was coming from and nothing was done about it. There is tons of foot traffic right outside your unit as it's in the first or ground floor. So people are sitting on your windows sill and here is the worst part. The door/windows are covered with one layer of the thinnest material of curtain so everyone can see inside your Airbnb as they pass by or sit in front of it. The worst part however was the noise. 0 noise insulation which is expected form old buildings in Paris but this one was next level. You feel the building shake from a subway passing by every 10 mins or so. At 5am you start to hear the trucks outside and cleaners and travellers with suitcases coming through the door constantly. You won't be able to sleep. Shampoo and body wash provided were akin to the free small samples you get for free and they just gave us 1 each for 3 days of our stay. No mirror except for a small one in the bathroom that is lit up by yellow LED lights behind so not ideal for women who need to prepare and put on makeup etc The front door can honestly be broken into with a kick as the screws are loose and it barely locks (we locked it one morning and came back ot it open in the afternoon, luckily nothing was stolen)
So while the location is central, I personally cannot recommend this as there are way too...
Read moreWe stayed for five nights this past October. While the rooms are nice, they have a serious temperature control issue as they get uncomfortably hot. The facility purchased swamp cooler fans (see photo) which do not work very well and are reliant upon you to refill the water basin nightly. These fans are not ideal as they dry out the room significantly and leave you with a sore throat in the morning. They also provided a window AC unit that requires you to leave the window open and stretch a vent tube out of it (see photo). I would recommend a wall mounted AC to the owner. Their solution initially was to sleep with the window open at night. Keep in mind this is the first floor and numerous homeless people hang out around the building at night, not a safe option by my standards. Ultimately Mehdi offered us a different room that was definitely slightly better, however was still cooled through the use of the fan. We encountered several other small issues staying here and would definitely not compare this place to a 5 star hotel. Amazing location, absolutely. Despite these issues, Mehdi did try to accommodate us best he could at the time and even gave us a free late check out. This place definitely has opportunities to be better and is not a horrible option...
