I had dinner here last night with my husband and the food was ok however the service at the end of my meal left me with a sour taste in my mouth. First of all, we visited the wrong Adana- we meant to go to the one down the street which has more popular reviews.
At Oz Adana, they have a credit card sticker posted on their front door, which typically means a business will take credit card. When it was time for us to pay, the waiter told me he takes cash only. When he placed the receipt in front of me, he repeated “Tip not included. 10%” three times in broken English. Not only am I an American living in Germany, I had not spoken English once to them while ordering. I know that Germany has amazing labor laws and the service charge is already being charged to my bill. Unlike in America, it is not always necessary to add an additional tip because waiters and employees are already receiving an automatic service charge. The fact that he was pressuring me to tip because I am an American is incredibly prejudiced as I did not see him do so with other patrons.
I was waiting for my husband to come back from the restroom to pay because he had all of our cash. Before he even placed the cash down on the table, the waiter rushed over to count the cash and compare it to the bill. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. We only left anything extra because we didn’t have exact change. I have worked in the service industry for years and I would expect that from cheap, shoddy restaurants, not a placed dressed “nicely” like this restaurant. Don’t go here, you can get better food and better service for a better price...
Read moreOrdered delivery on Uber Eats. A few minutes after ordering, when noticing the restaurant had their own couriers, I called to let them know I have an American phone number, and they could most easily contact me on WhatsApp, to which they said "No problem." 1 Hour later I contact the restaurant to ask about the order and they say just wait it's coming. One more hour later I call the restaurant again, saying I never received the order. They yell at me for not "having my phone open" even though I clarified it would be an American number. I received no calls, normal or through WhatsApp, and no communication through the delivery app. When explaining this, the man on the phone expresses that it's "not his problem." I try to cancel through Uber Eats in hope for a refund, but since the restaurant fulfills themselves, I must cancel through the restaurant. I call again asking to cancel, and am told to call Uber Eats. When I explain that it must be done on their end, they...
Read moreWe actually tried the other Adana kebap restaurant around the corner first, but they completely ignored us—we stood at the entrance and no one even acknowledged us.
At Öz Adana, it was the complete opposite. The staff welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. They even arranged a table outside for us, just as we asked. While we waited, they served us Turkish tea, which was a lovely touch. The food arrived quickly, and the bread was served warm—a must for kebap!
The Adana kebap was delicious! As for the mezes, they were good, but I think the flavors could be fine-tuned a bit to better match the traditional local taste—for example, adding a little lemon and salt to the hummus. The acılı ezme was nice too, but not quite the flavor we were expecting.
Still, definitely come here and enjoy the great food and...
