Overall: We had an excellent stay and can recommend YARD. The front desk staff (team) was friendly and competent, the rooms were clean and very nice, the pool and sauna area was a nice touch and the Bar / Breakfast area seemed just as great (though we didn't use it). All of the Hotel was in excellent condition, clean and neat. A single shower in the Spa area was out of commission but there were plenty others working. The spa has a decent sized pool, a sauna and a steam room. The steam room was scented, which is a nice touch. There is also a tiny workout area with a view of the pool. Rooms and appliances: Most importantly, the rooms are as advertised. Nicely decorated and fitted with good beds complete with comfortable mattresses on the stiffer side. The bathrooms are spacious and thoughtfully built with roomy showers, big mirrors, natural stone tiles and quality ceramics + fittings. The towels are high quality / good hotel standard. The room had few appliances. We asked for a kettle which was provided at no extra cost but subject to availability. Coffee is served in the lobby (no coffe maker in room). Extras:The sauna package for 10€ per stay provided a very soft bath robe (rental), sauna bag, drinking water and travel size shampoo by Rituals. Simple Drinks (no Longdrinks, Cocktails) in the Bar were 4€/each which is OK for a Hotel bar. At 25€ late checkout is available but subject to availablity. Hotel parking is 20/25€ per day. The small stuff: Outside the Hotel is a small drop-off area and for an extra price underground parking would be available. Checkout at 11 imo is customer friendly policy. The team allows you to store your luggage on checkout day until 10pm and redeem it for a luggage tag later. The rooms had a 0.5l complimentary water on arrival. Room for improvement: We had two pushed together twin beds, that were slidey and would come apart as soon as someone rolled in the middle. A small latch to fix them together would improve comfort. The windows of the room had some notable fingerprints across them. -no big deal but could be cleaner. The drinks selection at the bar is...
Read moreI am absolutely gutted about this experience as I booked the hotel for me and my partner and his best friend and partner for my partners birthday. It was a complete surprise for him so I tried to find a lovely hotel. I emailed in advance in regard to paying extra to having the room decorated for my partners birthday with a birthday banner and a couple of balloons. They emailed and said everything will be organised along with a card and they won’t go over my budget and not to worry about it due to them knowing my room number etc. When we arrived, they denied us bed and breakfast which we had already payed for unless we proved it as it wasn’t on their system. We showed them that we had payed for this and it was sorted but it took a while. We arrived at the room and there was no decorations in the room and no apology that this wasn’t done when agreed. No one in the hotel spoke English including any other residents, the staff spoke very limited. A female member of staff on reception was rude to us and was making faces and comments when we asked for our luggage to be kept in the storage room before departure at the airport. The breakfast was very limited with only eggs and sausages being served under the hot counter. The pictures looked like there was an outside roof top seating but this isn’t the case, it is on the main floor. I thought we had the pool and sauna included in the cost of the hotel but it was an additional £10 per person for one use. We didn’t do this and went to an alternative spa with more facilities but we were really disappointed with this. The room was clean and the bathroom was decorated lovely although our friends bed had black hairs in it when they arrived. Overall, the location wasn’t brilliant and we had to get Ubers everywhere but this was our fault for not looking into it more. I would not return to this...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at The Yard Hotel that involved both inadequate service and inappropriate conduct from the front desk person Andreas.||||Upon checking into my room, I discovered that the Wi-Fi was non-functional throughout the hotel rooms, working only in the lobby area. ||||When I brought this to Andreas's attention, he explained that they had been waiting over a week for replacement components. I expressed my surprise that such a basic amenity remained unresolved for so long.||||Andreas's response was both unprofessional and offensive. He claimed that "the majority of guests have their own WLAN devices," and when I pointed out that it was unreasonable to expect hotel guests to provide their own internet access, he made several disparaging comments about Americans. ||||He stated several times that "Germans are self-sufficient and Americans aren't," adding that "in Germany we deal with things and Americans just sugarcoat things." He repeatedly contrasted German "self-sufficiency" with American inadequacy.||||Rather than offering an apology, Andreas blamed me for not bringing my own internet device. His attitude was dismissive and accusatory throughout our interaction. When I requested assistance booking alternative accommodations, he was reluctant and unpleasant.||||During eight weeks of travel, this was the only instance where I encountered such unprofessional behavior and discriminatory commentary about my...
