The attitude which I was being severed didnt match with a three-star hostel/ monastery.||Firstly, i must admitted that I had an early train (08:30) on the day I leave the hostel and I didnt consult with the receptionist when I checked in on how I should do if I want to return the room key earlier than the normal working hour. There is neither no clear signage nor dropbox for returning the room key.||I went to the reception at 07:55, which is 5 mins earlier than the normal working hour. I politely knocked the door. The receptionist came front to the door, and knocked the glass which showed the working time of the reception. After that she opened the door, and at the same time showing her watch, pointing out that it still had few mins until the normal working time. I apologized (Yes, I have to apologize for leaving earlier than your normal working time. ) and explained that I had an early train. Then the second question asked by the receptionist was even rude and odd than any: 'Have you paid?' I deeply think it was such a rude and impolite question asking to your guest. I booked the room through traveling agency website, and I assumed that the transaction will be done automatically, even if any two-star hostel, the transaction was to be made while check-in. I feel so odd and dissatisfied for being served like this in a three-star-monastery.||||For sure I am not requesting a 5-star hotel service. And I know the receptionist did nothing wrong on working on time (exactly work on 08:00). But €63 per night is certainly not a cheap amount. I really dont understand why I have to apologize for booking an early train and being treated like this by the receptionist. Is this the way which Martin Luther called ‘hospitality’? Is this my fault for booking an early train? And I have no way to know your working time through both traveling agency website and your website (Eng. Version).||||(To other travelers) Please deeply consider whether to stay in this ‘monastery’ or not if you have to leave on early morning (or check in late) . I have never met such attitude and problems when I stay in any other youth hostels, but in a said...

Read moreI highly recommend the Augustinerkloster as a one of a kind experience in the very charming city of Erfurt. If you are interested in learning the in depth history of one of history's most significant "change agents" Martin Luther then you HAVE TO STAY HERE. |The rooms are spotlessly clean, quiet, and provide all "necessaries." The price is great, the breakfast more than adequate, and the location perfect for walking the delightful old town of ErFurt. The Martin Luther Museum is a MUST. No need for tour. Just buy ticket for Museum only. Explanations are in both English and German so read away. That being said, here are points that I hope someone at Augustinerkloster will read. Our reservation Email advised that we had to arrive before 6, so we were their promptly at 5:30. The receptionist literally "threw" the keys across desk to me, had me sign a paper, and then hurriedly drew a rough map showing me the way to find our room. When asked about parking, again she drew a very rough map directing us to a garage, with no idea of the cost. ( We had asked about parking via email prior to arrival, but no one indicated it would be a problem. ) parking cost was 9.50 Euro overnight. She told us nothing about wifi which we discovered the next morning would have been available ( I guess I should have asked BEFORE she locked the reception door promptly at 6!!!) . Her directions to the room were poor at best and thankfully we encountered a nice man near the kitchen who redirected us. Oh yes, there were two keys on the ring, but we had to figure out on our own what they opened. One was to an outer gate which led right to the courtyard where our room was located. Sure would gave Been nice to KNOW!! The reason I make this point is that as American tourism increases in Erfurt, and as this will become a destination for those interested in the roots of the Reformation, it would be great if this most amazing spot would just make a tiny bit more effort to offer courtesy as well as a comfortable...
