Gasthaus Feuerkugel — Restaurant in Erfurt

Wonderful atmosphere and rustic traditional Thuringian cuisine with great Thuringian dumplings, made with a solid recipe by Grandma Käthe, who seems to somewhat stand behind the brand. The historic restaurant (not named ”Feuerkugel or Fireball” then) had its inception in the late 1580s and is hence one of Erfurt’s oldest standing establishments.

We enjoyed the Sauerbraten and the (meat filled) Thüringer Rouladen, never had them filled with meat but as the Sauerbraten they were authentic in taste and had a simple savoury taste profile, just like they are meant to be. The red cabbage or Rotkraut is excellent in taste and not too sour like you find in many restaurants in Thuringia. The Klöße or dumplings have lovely buttered breadcrumb on top and are filled with buttered roasted white bread, just like they are meant to be - definitely freshly made. The only downside was the extra sauce they offer, as it seemed a bit generic and not the same as neither of the original sauces that came with the Sauerbraten and Rouladen. The grilled and ham-coated dumplings were very tasty too, as for the salad - it was good and tasty but definitely not their strong point or signature dish.

The home-brewed country beer was a little on the sour side, too sour for our liking.

Generally a wonderful restaurant with amazing authentic Thuringian cuisine, yet very pricey - with authentic dishes at almost €25 each, it’s downright not affordable for the working class, which is a bit sad, because they too should enjoy these...

Das Essen war einfach fantastisch! Jeder Bissen war ein Genuss und die Qualität der Zutaten war deutlich spürbar. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Obwohl die Preise im mittleren bis höheren Bereich liegen, ist das Essen jeden Cent wert.

Der Service war ebenfalls hervorragend. Das Personal war freundlich, aufmerksam und stets bemüht, alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Man fühlte sich rundum gut betreut und willkommen.

Die Getränkeauswahl war beeindruckend und vielfältig. Es gab eine breite Palette an Weinen, Bieren und Cocktails, die perfekt zu den Gerichten passten. Auch die alkoholfreien Optionen waren kreativ und erfrischend.

Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war besonders einladend. Die geschmackvolle Einrichtung und das warme Licht schufen eine behagliche und entspannte Stimmung. Es war der perfekte Ort, um einen schönen Abend zu verbringen und das hervorragende Essen zu genießen.

Das Restaurant befindet sich in einer zentralen Lage in Erfurt, was es leicht zugänglich macht. Es liegt in der Nähe wichtiger Sehenswürdigkeiten und ist gut mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. Die Umgebung ist charmant und trägt zur angenehmen Gesamterfahrung bei.

Tuve el placer de visitar el restaurante Feuerkugel en Erfurt y fue una experiencia maravillosa.  El restaurante está bellamente decorado y desprende un ambiente acogedor que invita a quedarse. La comida fue simplemente fantástica!  Cada bocado fue una delicia y la calidad de los ingredientes se notaba claramente.  Cabe destacar especialmente la relación precio-rendimiento.  Aunque los precios están en el rango medio a alto, la comida vale cada centavo.

El servicio también fue excelente.  El personal fue amable, atento y siempre intentó cumplir todos los deseos.  Te sentiste bien atendido y bienvenido por todos lados.

La selección de bebidas fue impresionante y variada.  Había una amplia gama de vinos, cervezas y cócteles que combinaban a la perfección con los platos.  Las opciones sin alcohol también fueron creativas y refrescantes.

El ambiente en el restaurante era especialmente acogedor.  El elegante mobiliario y la cálida luz crearon un ambiente confortable y relajado.  Fue el lugar perfecto para pasar una agradable velada y disfrutar de la excelente comida.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Feuerkugel restaurant in Erfurt and it was a wonderful experience. The place is beautifully decorated and exudes a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger.

The food was simply fantastic! Every bite was a delight and the quality of the ingredients was clearly noticeable. The value for money is particularly noteworthy. Although the prices are in the mid to high range, the food is worth every penny.

The service was also excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and always tried to fulfill all wishes. You felt well looked after and welcome all around.

The drinks selection was impressive and varied. There was a wide range of wines, beers and cocktails that went perfectly with the dishes. The non-alcoholic options were also creative and refreshing.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was particularly inviting. The tasteful decor and warm lighting created a cozy and relaxed mood. It was the perfect place to spend a nice evening and enjoy the excellent food.

I visited Gasthaus Feuerkugel for dinner with colleagues and we had a good time. The restaurant is located in the old town of Erfurt and has a cozy and rustic atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and hearty. We ordered some local specialties, such as Thüringer RinderRoulade and Tafelspitz.
