Augustiner Erfurt — Restaurant in Erfurt

Never again.

We traveled here specifically to eat Haxn pork knuckle, because an acquaintance who had eaten here a few weeks ago, and whose word is his bond, explicitly told us that the Augustiner haxn was particularly tasty. Our acquaintance had emphasized the crispy knuckle crust as a highlight of an already good dish. Based on this assessment, we decided to eat haxn here as well.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, quickly made our way to a table, then ordered their haxn. We waited for around 20 minutes.

Then the disappointment: Our haxn were servedwithout crust! They had simply taken the shanks out of the oven much too early. So instead of crust, there was a thick, chewy, greasy layer of skin.

Clearly, we didn't want the situation to escalate. After all, we were sitting on one of the higher floors.

Nevertheless, quality also means consistency and predictability. A knuckle of pork must always be served equally well. It is unacceptable when the cook's form of the day turns the order into a lottery. Maybe they just wanted to save energy and turned off the oven earlier on purpose. We can only speculate on the reasons for what happened. The result of the omissions, however, we experienced quite ourselves: What happened in the Augustiner Erfurt was just infinitely sad and disappointed us deeply.

Bill: €50+ for two. Unfortunately, no recommendation.

Positive: The building was however beautiful. Therefore, we definitely recommend to just have a look at it, go in, walk around and take many pictures. We can’t recommend the...

I am a little late in writing my review! In May of 23, three other professors and I took 20 students on a study abroad trip across Europe. On our bus trip to Erfurt, I looked online and tried to find somewhere that could seat 24 people. I found the Augustiner and immediately loved the atmosphere shown in the pictures. I emailed the restaurant and asked if they could accommodate all of us for dinner the next day. ( I waited with fingers crossed as I knew it was last minute). I got an email back telling us they would be more than happy to have us and had room for all of us to sit together! The hostess was wonderful, kind, and engaging to everyone in our group. We knew were a large group and were mindful to be respectful of those around us. We had the most amazing food and service! We loved it! I highly recommend this restaurant and staff that would go out of their way to show us such fantastic...

Food was awesome, but got scammed with the bill. Went there at the last day of a work trip. The waiter told me the price of 22.50 and I paid with card, she folded the receipt and handed it to me. Not asking nor confirming for a tip. Had to leave in the early morning and I didn't check the receipt, only to find out when I was at home that I got charged around 370 euros in tip. Tried to call the restaurant and send emails (even translated to be more accessible). Got no help from the calls and never an answer to the emails. Tried to ask at the bank to contest the payment but I was there and was my fault for not checking the receipt when it got handed to me so the restaurant didn't approve. Service was nice, food was really good.. but not...
