This hotel is right in the middle of the drug scene in Frankfurt. Me and my wife arrived at the Frankfurt Hbf (central train station) and walked to the hotel. On the way there we've seen some quite strange people walking around, but OK, it's a central area, very near a train station, so we usually expect to see some strange stuff happening.
After the check-in we went up to the room, which is very, very simple, but acceptable. But the bed linen was all yellowish. Originally everything was white, but everything was stained, looking very old and dirty. Nevermind, we could accept this since everything was already paid for.
Then we left the hotel to have lunch somewhere nearby. When we reached Niddastrasse and Taunusstrasse there was nothing but hundreds of people doing all kinds of drugs in the streets. Crack cocaine was the most common, and that's the most dangerous drug for passers by since users do whatever needed to get money for the next dose.
We were pretty scared and rushed to Bacco, which is a 'restaurant' nearby. There we decided to leave the hotel and booked a room at Ibis Budget Ost, which I already knew was an area of the city free of drug users and very pleasant to stay at, although a bit far from the main attractions in Frankfurt.
We took an Uber back to Star Inn, but I had a constant thought on the back of my mind, that maybe the hotel area was OK, only the streets nearby would be dangerous. Nevertheless we checked out and were waiting for another Uber to take us to Ibis. Meanwhile, a drug user stood right in front of the hotel entrance. Two ladied came in and he started to harass them, saying all kinds of things and almost entering the hotel with them. Both were pretty scared, but there was not a single security guard at the hotel, despite it being right in the red light district and drug scene in Frankfurt. The receptionist did nothing to help them. From this point onwards, I have had no regrets to change to another hotel.
My experience in this place was really disgusting. I've stayed there for less than two hours and I would never step foot in this place again.
Be aware: Google Street View in this area shows images back from 2008. We can't see anyone doing drugs in this area back then, but a lot has changed in 11 years.
You may think there is nothing the hotel can do to change its surroundings, but I am sure such big hotel chain (Star Inn is related to Confort Inn and Quality group) could have some influence, together with other hotels from the area, to push the city hall or local government and improve the situation...
Read moreI live in the U.K. and last Monday received 4 email messages from Premier Inns confirming my booking for Premier Inn Frankfurt that evening for 2 nights - 4 double rooms costing €800. I had no plans to travel to Frankfurt and knew it was a scam. I looked onto the Premier Inn website and in ‘Manage My Booking’ put in the booking ref in the email, name, etc. and the response was. ‘Could not complete booking’ or something to that effect. I called Premier Inn call centre and after about 30 mins waiting I received an automated message to say lines busy, hang up and call back later. I called a little after 5 and the lines were closed (9 x 5 opening hours). On late Tuesday evening I rang the Premier Inn Frankfurt having been unable to get through to Premier inn U.K. and spoke to Alva who told me someone had checked in on the Monday prior using my name. I said I was concerned that my card would be cloned and used at check out. She told me my card number was in my profile which made me doubly worried. She said the only thing she could do was leave a message for the staff taking over from her at 6.45 (day of check-out on the booking). I hung up and immediately called American Express who were excellent and I cancelled my card. Next day I hung on the Premier Inn call centre line as I felt they should be aware of this scam. Eventually I spoke with an agent who said he would have to pass me to someone else. Again, another long wait. The 2nd agent said he would need to speak with his Manager. After another wait, I was told to report it to the police and cancel my card. That was it. No help or suggestion other than that. I was pretty disgusted with Premier Inn’s lack of interest. We have stayed with Premier Inn a number of times and always considered them excellent value for money, however, this has completely coloured our view and we will look for other accommodation in the future. Poor show...
Read moreI loved this experience.
I have seen people complain about the corridoor on the fifth floor, yes, it is stained, but not neccessarily dirty. The rooms themselves and every aspect of the hotel I came in contact with outsode of that corridoor were spotlessly clean.
People have complained about the burnt our building across from the hotel. I dont think this is neccessarily an eye sore and it is not reflective of the hotel itself at all.
I have seen complaints about the area. Yes, I have been in safer areas, however, this is a problem with the entire Bahnhofsverteil area and not exclusive to the area directly around the hotel. It was extremely conviently located to access the Main train station, which is exactly what I was looking for. The hotel itself is also extremely safe. I am a solo female traveller, and it is the first time I have felt so safe in a hotel that I did not feel the need to put a glass on the door handle to alert me if someone tried to come in. Lifts to floors can only be accessed with a key card coded to that floor, which is a huge bomus to me.
The room itself was generously sized, the bed was massive, comfortable and clean. The windows are soundproofed, the curtains are thick and lush. The windows are also fitted with a privacy sheet, so you can still get light in without being seen inside the room.
The breakfast in the morning was lovely and hot the spot perfectly. I had scrambled egg, sausages, brötchen and tea. Cereals, Aufschnitt etc also available. All was buffet style self service.
I genuienly would struggle to fault anything about the hotel and for the price (midweek, single traveller in July €72 incld. Breakfast and city tax), I feel I got a good deal.
Would highly...
