This hotel deserves two stars only because of their staff (that is really amazing, all of them), and their excellent food. Both, dinner and breakfast we had there were excellent.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the hotel establishment and its facilities.
While I understand that this hotel was built sometime at the end of the 70's, and nobody is willing to invest into its modernization, there are simple hacks how to make the life of its guests better. Firstly, the garages. Whilst conveniently located underneath the hotel, there is no barrier free access available, meaning that if you want to unload your suitcase in the car, and take it directly to the hotel (why wouldn't you, the hotel has a direct elevator from the reception to the garage), you are about to come to the nasty surprise - the elevators are malfunctional. What is worse, nobody thought about putting that notice to the garage, which would spare you carrying your bags up the stairs to the elevator.
Secondly, the rooms. Where to begin? Firstly, the design is from some time in 1970, as I said, and that brings a few weird things with it. Like - you have your sink directly in the room - not in the bathroom, IN THE ROOM. There is no AC - at least, we haven't found any. Also - absolutely no sockets next to your bed where you could charge your phone. We had to take out the drawers, unplug the bedside lamp, and plug in the phones. This is honestly ridiculous concept in 2025 when we all are depending on our cellphones, and I frankly don't see a reason why the hotel can't provide some extension cables for every bedside table.
That's why 2 stars only. This hotel is in the beautiful location, and as said, has an amazing staff, and delish food, but the hotel itself is not...
Read moreStayed here for two nights with family.
First of all, don’t fall into their trap of pictures. The hotel is only attached to the historic castle and is actually an overly ugly 1970s building.
Worst of all, the hotel does not have air conditioning at all. It was hot during my stay in September and without opening the door to the balcony the heat in the room would be unbearable. Be aware if you stay in summer - I don't believe a baby can sleep in this hotel.
Otherwise rooms are small and in urgent need of a refurb. Wifi spotty.
Woke up during the second night given loud noises made by other guests. All rooms are located around an interior lobby where the hotel offers alcohol to buy. Noise isolation is super bad so it was quite loud even on the second floor. There are even rooms which have their door directly into the lobby - never seen such a nonsense arrangement and these rooms must be overly loud.
Staff are friendly though and location is good. Breakfast offering is also ok.
Overall, I won’t came back. Rooms are overpriced for such a dated property. There are better options in Fulda. This property is past its best times and won't...
Read moreThe hotel could do with a little TLC as some of the interior is a little worn, but there are many positives: very clean rooms, comfortable beds, decent breakfast (if rather busy on weekends) in an impressive hall, and in general very friendly staff, from reception to cleaning. ||The hotel bar didn't impress us much (G&T was average at best, nibbles such as nuts were sold out - and we went at the start of the evening...). Wireless internet connectivity was hit-and-miss (mainly miss), and for whatever reason mobile data reception was limited in many areas of the hotel, too. ||One note of caution: the sauna is switched on upon request only, and needs about an hour to heat up. If you are unlucky, such as if you ask the receptionist with the 5.5-day-stubble, you may find an hour later that is not in operation (and no point in sharing your surprise about this with said gentleman - as apparently this is not his...
