Koukounaries Studios — Hotel in Argostoli Municipality

Just returned from one week at Koukounaries and thoroughly recommend it. Sofia who manages the studios lives on site which is always a good thing. She is helpful when you need her but not at all in your face, just very pleasant and speaks very good English. Our Studio (3) was very clean and had all you need, including wifi. We had a little balcony on first floor with country views and although facing the balconies of a nearby property (not too close) screened by trees. I think other rooms may have had better views but we were perfectly happy. Sheets and towels were changed regularly and room was kept spotlessly clean. It is a little out of town but still within easy reach of shops, beach etc. It ensures you are away from late night noise. We didn't even have the obligatory barking dog! The last part is uphill but it was not a problem for us and we are not young! I imagine in very hot weather you would have to use the aircon more than we did. Someone else mentioned the walls being thin and it is true that on our first night we were disturbed by our neighbours talking loudly but fortunately it was a "one off" and after that there were no problems. Sophia and her husband are great hosts and the studios are cleaned to an exceptional standard and are very well equipped with free air con, hairdryer, fully fitted out kitchenette with a toaster. Very high standards for skala. |Although! We did find the beds a little hard. ||The view we had was stunning over hills of skala and the sea. ||The walk up the hill was great for us as the studios are set up the top of the high street over the junction and carry on straight up the hill towards skala football pitch. |But! Situated at the top of Skala main street on the way to the old village in the hills, this place is a gem. Accommodation basic but spotless and kept so by Sofia who is on hand to deal with any issues. Rooms facing into the garden are best positioned for peace an quiet and a lovely view over the trees with a peek of the sea.
