If you want to be right in the heart of the Plaka, this is a decent hotel. The woman who gave us our keys, and let us store our luggage in her office before check-in, was very friendly and helpful. We had a 'business suite' which included a living room and office area, in addition to the bedroom and bathroom: so it was really very spacious apartment (except it lacked a kitchen). It was very clean.||It's easy to walk out to restaurants and shopping, yet it's located on a quiet side street.||The main downside to this hotel was the super-hard bed which, upon inspection, appeared to be little more than a box spring with a mattress pad. This was the first place I stayed in Greece and I was prepared to give this hotel a poor rating based on the bed. But after staying in 4 other places (including 4/5 star hotels) and having 3 other beds that were as hard, I concluded super-firm beds are a Greek thing (I've never found beds in USA/other European hotels too hard). Perhaps people younger than 50 would find GK's beds sleep-able/comfortable...older folks, you're warned.||The other draw-back was lots of windows but no view. Every window (all attractively shuttered/curtained from the inside) looked over a ventilation shaft or small (unattractive) courtyard. But I liked that fresh air was available (though opening the windows lets in noise like nighttime garbage pick-up).||This hotel was clean, spacious, centrally located, with friendly staff: thus a good review...
Read moreThe airport shuttle service was great and helpful driver.
However, this a.m., We were woken up at 3 am by someone being checked in with pus voices in the lobby. The sink and shower are very slow draining.
Also the beds are extremely uncomfortable, the main bed was 2 box springs not even a mattress and the pullout couch has bars across it so it was impossible to get comfortable.
The mini fridge runs all night with loud sounds and constant buzzing.
The walls of the shower stayed wet there is no window or ventilation and it smells like mold. We had to air out the apartment all night because of the smell so the noise from the street came in.
The view from the apartment is a dilapidated atrium with peeling paint and rotting vines.
The drain in the floor has a foul smell it it that filled the apartment with sewage stank, and There weren't enough hand or bath towels for 3 people. Not happy with the fact that this was a $130 USD/ night room! Very...
Read moreTotally not recommended place, especially for families with small baby/children. In the announcement(eg. booking.com) it is not specified that the rooms(at least what we ordered) are in the basement, of course there are options with or without garden view, but you'd expect garden on a street level not lower(however, Greek architecture can be surprising). Anyway, the most problematic was the strong smell of exhaust coming from the street, because windows were on the street level. The owner didn't want to refund money or move us to another room, place(no vacancy), so we end-up searching for something else with a 1 year old baby at 22:00. If you consider to stay there, always look at the pictures, if you see that windows are upper, close to ceiling, it means that this room is in the basement. In plus, there are very tight and small roads, very hard to maneuver the car, very hard to find parking place. NOT...
