Avocado — Restaurant in Athens

(I HAVE BEEN TO THIS RESTAURANT 5 TIMES)

I would like to start this review by the bathroom. I usually tend to look at all the details of a place I visit, especially with restaurants because I really love food and when restaurants take great care of their toilets most of the time it already is a great sign. Really clean toilet, always at least 3 rolls of paper, (on 6 different visits in different days) always paper for drying hands.

Now I'll talk a bit about the other stuff....

Starting from the STAFF, which is always smiling, friendly, kind, prepared and always has a sharp eye on what is happening at the tables while not being invasive at all(when you finish your glass of water they always fill it for free right after a few minutes). I am Italian and speak English because I can't speak or understand Greek and the whole staff speaks really good English.

The FOOD is soooo goooood! And trust me on that.... I've been to Avocado 🥑 5 times and every single time I've tried different things from the menu including appetisers, smoothies and desserts.

Now I'll tell you something.... I'm Italian as I said, and Italy is famous for pasta right? I basically have a master's degree in trying different types of pasta and different sauces on it but I usually never eat it at restaurants because to me it feels a bit stupid not to try some specialties or dishes I've never tried before and go with pasta at a restaurant. BUT, since i tried pretty much half of the menu I had to give the "Penne Avocado" a try and WOW. It really is one of my favorites, so so so good, loved it.

The INGREDIENTS of the whole menu are really fresh, top quality and are cooked perfectly with all the flavours and seasonings being delicious!

Definitely recommend it under every single aspect, for lunch and dinner, and also for a quick stop with a smoothie(I tried one for dinner hahaha) or burger. Make sire to follow them on Instagram because they post lots of cool stuff there too.

Thank you for the great experiences that you keep delivering with passion and kindness, keep up with the great work you guys are doing. I wish I had an exact copy of your restaurant also in Italy because when I'll come back to my country I'll miss you guys. But for now, I'll enjoy it as much...

The food was just ok and overpriced. The thing that annoyed me the most was the staff that wasn't professional. I asked if they have some local wines and she said that all of the wines are local. Eventually I decided to go for her recommendation but when I received the bill, the name of the wine was anything but Greek. I checked it and asked to see the bottle and indeed, they had served Argentinian wine as "Greek wine". I was on vacation and really wanted to get to know Greek wines better, not something else and I WOULD NEVER HAD ORDERED AN OVERPRICED WINE WHICH WAS NOT WHAT I WANTED IF THE WAITRESS HAD NOT LIED TO ME. If they are not sure of something, they should rather check and come back to the customer than just telling something to make the customer pay.

Also, I think that in a vegetarian/vegan restaurant they should educate the staff about if the cheese they use is vegetarian or not and what is a difference between vegetarian and vegan cheese. (NOT ALL CHEESE IS VEGETARIAN, SOME OF THEM HAVE RENNET FROM ANIMAL STOMACHS. VEGETARIAN CHEECE HAS MILK BUT NOT RENNET FROM A DEAD ANIMAL. VEGAN CHEESE DOES NOT HAVE EVEN MILK). I was trying to ask if the cheese they use is vegetarian and the waitress did not seem to have a clue of what I was asking.

This was by far the BEST meal we had while in the great city of Athens. Which is a very difficult accomplishment, considering the excellent food one can find in this magnificent city. We came with 2 kids, got an upstairs low table, in an air conditioned space (a relief when it's 33c outside) The service was exceptional, we were welcomed and treated like family. The menus were beautiful and made us want to order everything possible. We came hungry, so we ordered many items. ALL of them, ALL of them, were AMAZING. Our kids had the margarita pizza and were delighted. The portions are HUGE. The kids couldn't finish eating the pizza. And we were over the moon with joy for this wonderful, natural, healthy food that we got. Truly an experience. It's been 2 days and I'm still thinking about it - came in here especially to write this ! Google did not prompt me to do it, this is no Algorithm's work.

WE LOVED THIS PLACE and I recommend it to ANYONE ps - you don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this incredible food
