I was visiting my friend we decided to visit the hotel for a meal on Sunday 17th August as the view from the restaurant is magnificent and comes highly recommended. This was a special occasion and we had high expectations and looked forward to a delicious meal in a great setting. However, despite the staff being courteous and attentive, the experience was let down by the food. It seemed as though someone did not understand how to put flavours together or to execute the correct cooking time and techniques. The starter octopus carpaccio was presented in a pretty pattern but was a strange combination of things, with a bean purée and fried filo pieces to accompany it along with some red gloopy stuff that tasted like ketchup thickened with cornflour. None of those things enhanced the octopus. Such a shame to ruin the octopus in that way. We also had the Greek salad which was ok. The bread basket was good but I don’t understand why they said it was flavoured butter as the butter had just been coloured green by spinach and so did not really have any other flavour than butter. Although it does come in a cute shape. We were chatting and eating the starter quite slowly and they did ask a few too many times if we had finished yet, when there was clearly food still on the table, so this should be avoided in future as we felt rushed. My main dish was the lamb. I was given some pieces of lamb, the two smaller ones were too hard and dry. The aubergine purée was mediocre and the quarter of a parsnip ridiculous to put on a plate. My friends had the fish of the day which was over cooked and tasteless and was served with tomato pappardelle that didn’t match the flavours. We have eaten at many restaurants and do not mind paying the premium prices charged. However, we do expect to be served a premium product if you are charging high prices. We did raise this quality issue with the staff and they were excellent, very sympathetic and good about trying to resolve the problem. Fortunately, dessert was very good. We had the chocolate torte and the lemon dessert. I would highly recommend the lemon dessert, which the lovely waitress recommended to me. Would I come here again? For the views yes, but I wouldn’t want to chance another disappointing meal, so maybe just cocktails and a cheese platter. (Incidentally, my friends took the overcooked fish for their cat, but even the cat agreed with us and wouldn’t eat it! )

My recent stay at the Electra Metropolis Athens was an overwhelmingly positive experience that I am eager to share. From the outset, the hotel impressed with its impeccable cleanliness and spacious rooms, offering both comfort and style. Every detail seemed thoughtfully considered, contributing to a particularly pleasant atmosphere. The breakfast at the hotel was a true feast for the senses. With a seemingly endless selection of dishes, ranging from traditional Greek specialties to international delicacies, each morning was a new culinary adventure. The quality and freshness of the ingredients, along with the presentation, were impressive. It was more than just a breakfast; it was an experience that perfectly started each day. A special mention must go to the hotel staff, who were consistently friendly and professional. Everyone, from the reception to room service, was always eager to fulfill any request and make the stay as enjoyable as possible. This warmth and hospitality were palpable throughout and significantly contributed to the overall comfort. Dinner at the hotel's restaurant was another highlight. The cuisine offered an exquisite selection of dishes that were both a delight to the taste buds and a feast for the eyes. The ambiance in the restaurant was welcoming and elegant, making the evening a special event. An unforgettable experience was provided by the hotel's rooftop terrace. The view over Athens, especially in the evening, was spectacular. The city skyline, combined with its historic architecture, offered a unique panorama that will linger in memory for a long time. In conclusion, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Electra Metropolis Athens. The combination of excellent service, superb dining, and a breathtaking view makes it a top choice for anyone visiting Athens. It's not just a place to stay but a place that transforms a visit to the city into an unforgettable experience.

This is a great hotel in a great location with really excellent service. The basic accommodations, such as the room and the breakfast, are all solid. The view of the Parthenon from the rooftop is really breathtaking. No complaints there. However, it is the service at this hotel that really makes it five stars. The concierge was incredibly friendly and gave us lots of great suggestions for local spots to grab food and coffee (thanks for the recommendations Aggelos!). He even helped me a bit with my Greek. What really impressed me with the service is how they handled a minor mistake. We had the hotel arrange for transportation from the port. Due to a glitch in their computer systems, they ended up ordering two cabs for us. We had the two drivers work it out amongst themselves to decide who would give us a ride. We gave the other drive half fare for his time. I figured I'd get to the hotel, explain the situation, and be reimbursed for the half fare I gave the second driver. It honestly was not much of an inconvenience to us. I think our driver contacted his company who contacted the hotel and explained the situation, because when we arrived at the hotel, the driver told us the hotel had already paid for the drive and we did not owe him anything. As soon as we checked in, we were profusely apologized. Not only did they cover the trip to the hotel, they also reimbursed me for the half fare I paid to the second driver, and they covered our fare to the airport when we checked out. All I really expected was to not be out extra money, and I was really blown away by how seriously this hotel takes its commitment to good service. I would absolutely stay here again and would easily recommend the same to anyone else staying in Athens.

Well, this hotel probably was the worst choice i might have ever made throughout a life of traveling. If you have money to throw down the drain, then choose this hotel. I booked a room here just to be close to Syntagma and because a last minute cancellation was made by the Airbnb i had booked. The hotel looks nice at a first glance as you enter the beautiful lobby. While at the reception i was met by a young lady that had a permanent smirk on her face while communicating with me. Then she insisted to have my card in case i would use the mini bar which i assured her that i did not have the need to use.I resisted to give out the card because i've been burned before by 2-3 5⭐ hotels that had done withdrawals without my consent and this prior to even enter the room or open the mini bar and it took me weeks to have my money back. Since i was reluctant to live the card she asked for 100 euro from me(50/night) for those 10 max overpriced, basic things they have in the minibar. In the end i gave in and left my card to be swiped. I went upstairs to the room(617) and i've never seen a smaller room that felt so claustrophobic,a normal one person bed and no place to put my suitcase. It didn't even have a proper balcony cause it was a fake one consisting of the door and a rail and a tiny triangle shaped slab.No chairs or anything. Not that you had much to see right there but this was a 370 euro/night room. I've never seen anything like that at that price and i've traveled the entire world. Not even in Dubai or Singapore,5⭐ hotels. You get a suite for that money. This is profiteering in the worst way possible. The room had zero insulation and it was 2 sleepless terror nights. The music from the bars nearby and the noise from the streets was palpable and the worst was that the second day on sunday when i tried to get some sleep after breakfast, the cleaners who i think had their supply room near to mine, were opening & closing the door/s not stop for hours. Om my last day, before breakfast i called reception for a later checkout and the manager told me that 12 was the latest cause they were fully booked. I checked on all booking sites to make sure...they had plenty of rooms available. Availability existed even hours later but i had to check out at 12.Ridiculous. The same day, after breakfast again,i was in the room and at 10.35 the cleaner just opens the room while i'm lying on my bed...no knocking, nothing and i had the "Don't disturb" button on. I went up pretty annoyed and angry and asked what she is doing cause it wasn't even check out time and she said she wanted to pick the trash🤦🏻‍♀️ I shook my had in disbelief cause i've never encountered anything more absurd than this to be honest. So,this was my experience with Electra Metropolis,an overall disaster from beginning to the end and i would not stay there even if i was paid honestly. The only nice thing with this hotel is the view & the breakfast which i'd like to give 5⭐ too but i don't get that choice. They have to come down from their high horses and coordinate better and just change current management. So if this hotel is a 5⭐ hotel, then i'm the queen of Danmark. You get plenty of better choices in Athens to a fraction of the price. Choose...

Among the hotels in Athens, I'm particularly fond of Electra. That's why this is my second stay here after 2022 (and I've stayed for a whole week this time!). However, to be honest, compared to the pleasant surprise of my first stay, many detail-related issues have surfaced this time. I hope this hotel, which enjoys unique advantages, can make improvements and live up to its own positioning.

First, let's talk about the strengths. Its location is arguably the most superior in Athens. The restaurant and swimming pool on the rooftop are truly remarkable (perfect; if I have to nitpick, the space beside the pool is limited, making it hard to find an empty sun lounger at times, and the cleanliness of the restroom attached to the pool needs enhancement). The front desk staff are enthusiastic and professional. The rooms are clean, simple, and spacious (some room types have extremely beautiful balconies).

This time, I'd rather focus on some shortcomings in the details, which are clearly inconsistent with its five-star standard. 1)We had three people staying in the room, but most of the time, we were only provided with one bottle of water, and on some days, no bottled water was replenished at all (unless we actively called to request water delivery). 2)Due to our itinerary arrangements, we stayed in three different rooms this time. However, each room had varying degrees of poor drainage in the shower or sink (the most severe case was a shower room that was almost unusable due to a clogged drain). 3)Despite having three people staying, we were only given one set of toothbrushes. 4)Severe noise problem: After midnight every night, the street becomes extremely noisy (with the constant clattering of glass bottles or the drunken shouting and singing). The windows look sturdy, but their sound insulation is clearly inadequate. These are all shortcomings in detail management, issues that should not occur so frequently in a five-star hotel.

In addition, perhaps due to the post-pandemic boom in the tourism industry, the guests staying at the hotel are noticeably of mixed quality, leading to some ridiculous elevator incidents we experienced. 1)Several elderly white women, disregarding the facts, shouted loudly at us with extremely unfriendly expressions, claiming that the elevator was going down and forcibly pushed us, who were preparing to go to the rooftop for breakfast, out of the elevator. 2)Another time in the afternoon, two obviously drunk white women, holding wine glasses filled with wine and burping, reeked of alcohol in the elevator, sized us up with unfriendly glances, and deliberately whispered unkind remarks (they foolishly assumed we didn't understand English, haha). The hotel should explicitly inform all guests that getting drunk in public areas of the hotel is not allowed. This is basic etiquette. It shows that people who can afford the room rates are not always...

Exceptional Stay at Hotel Electra Metropolis Athens

Rating: ★★★★★+★★★★★

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Electra Metropolis during my family vacation to Athens, and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we stepped foot in the hotel, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality. Every aspect of our stay was impeccable, making it an experience we will cherish for a lifetime.

First and foremost, the cleanliness of the hotel deserves special mention. The entire property was immaculate, from the lobby to the guest rooms. The attention to detail and the dedication of the housekeeping staff was evident in every corner. we felt comfortable and at ease throughout our stay, knowing that the hotel took cleanliness and hygiene seriously.

The culinary delights offered at Hotel Electra were simply outstanding. The food served at the hotel's restaurant was not only delicious but also presented with flair. The menu offered a wide variety of options, catering to different tastes and preferences. Whether it was a hearty breakfast to start the day or a sumptuous dinner to unwind, every meal was a delightful experience.

One of the standout features of Hotel Electra is its prime location. Situated in the heart of Athens, it is conveniently close to major attractions. Within a short walking distance, we found ourself immersed in the rich history and vibrant culture of this magnificent city. The hotel's proximity to various tourist spots made it incredibly convenient for exploring and discovering the wonders of Athens.

What truly sets Hotel Electra Metropolis apart is its exceptional staff. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. They were not only professional and attentive but also genuinely friendly. The warm smiles and genuine care made us feel like a part of their extended family. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Sophia, the guest relations manager, for her exceptional assistance and making us feel at home. Her dedication and attentiveness were truly remarkable. I would also like to extend my thanks to Andrea for the outstanding service and the personal touch that made our stay even more special.

If you are looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, we wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Electra Metropolis. It has set the bar high for hospitality, and I cannot wait to return for another incredible stay next year.
