Hotel stay review
Airport shuttle: we booked a taxi from the airport through the hotel. They told us it would be 55 euros and that the taxi driver would be waiting for us in arrivals with a sign. When we got to the airport, I got a text from the driver telling us to leave the airport, and message him at a meeting point outside. When we got to the hotel, the taxi driver charged us 65 euros. He said it is more after midnight. We mentioned this on check in and the member of staff just said that it is more after midnight. They didn't mention it in their email though and she said the taxi driver should have met us on arrivals. No apology...shs just brushed it all off.
Check in: when we checked in, the member of staff said she had waited for us and that she should have finished her shift at midnight. She didn't ask how our journey was or show us to our room. She just asked for my bank card and asked me to sign a document. We then just found our own way to the room with our luggage.
Room: when we arrived in our room, we noticed the bathroom floor was a little dirty. The shampoo bottle was also empty. The room was very basic for a 4* hotel.
Breakfast: this was the best thing about the hotel. The food was good and the options were decent. The service wasn't the most friendly but they got the job done and I think it's worth including if you choose to stay here.
Noise: the door to the rooftop slammed every night which sometimes woke me up. I imagine this was just when people were coming and going.
Location: the location was great for exploring Athens. The road that the hotel on is quiet. The only noise came from rooftop visitors.
Cleanliness: the public areas were pretty clean. The cup during breakfast one morning was dirty. The bathroom floor wasn't clean on arrival.
Check out: the member of staff (different to check in and breakfast) just asked me to pay the tax. She didn't ask how our stay was.
We loved Athens and we put up with all above, however we expected more from a 4* hotel. We will probably stay somewhere else next time but it's OK if you lower your expectations...
Read moreThe hotel is fine, clean and quiet and in a good enough location. Our issue was with the service and staff. We booked our reservation far in advance and, as it turned out, we booked with a check-in the day after we were slated to arrive in Athens. Over the course of the month before we arrived, we sent the hotel at least 4 emails stating the day that we were arriving in Athens when we thought we were checking in. The staff always responded promptly--we were trying to book a tour guide, ask about early check in etc--but NO ONE ever actually checked the reservation during the course of the communications, which would have been a perfect opportunity for them to let me know that I had the wrong check-in date. (Also, every other hotel we booked for this trip sent us a confirmation email in advance with details and dates which would have given us the chance to notice and correct the error.) We arrived in Athens, had no place to stay, spent a lot of money on rooms for one night and then the folks at Neoma refused to refund us for the extra night which we didn't use. We asked about this every day of our stay, and they were evasive. One morning we were talking to the manager, and he didn't identify himself as the decision maker, even though he was. This might be the kind of service you would expect at a low budget hotel or a massive chain that doesn't care about its customers but this is supposed to be a boutique property and they treated us poorly and dismissively. You can find a better place to...
