Ρίζα Ρίζα — Restaurant in Athens

We ordered two coffees, a water, eggs sunny side up cooked runny (αυγά μάτι μελάτα), and a power bowl. This is on a Sunday at 11:20am. The eggs and the power bowl were very tasty, we would happily eat there again. The water was brought to us after the food. The coffee still had not arrived by the time we finished our food. The eggs were not cooked runny, were in fact I overcooked, still tasty though! The waitresses response to that fact was to simply and curtly state that there was an issue with the bar, and if we wished to have coffee before food she could take the food back and we could wait for the coffee, and then she would bring the food back. Unspoken here was the likelihood that it would be the same food, just cold in the case of the eggs. Generally it seemed to be an off day for everyone but the kitchen. We were here for lunch. The decoration is modern, hip and industrial, the service slow (1 person for about 10 tables) -but polite-, though the kitchen was quick. Music more of an alternative rock bar than of a restaurant. I’m not even sure if it’s a restaurant, so let’s keep that in mind. Now, the food was so-so, the version of a Greek salad was mediocre at best, and some of the ingredients (caper leaves, olives) were canned. The baked baby potatoes were too fat and shrunken without a lot of taste, but the fried sausage was amazing and full of flavor!!! The crowd was mostly young, btw. I don’t know what to make of this. We stopped here for a couple of drinks, it was great and a couple of drinks turned into many more. We were given some lovely snacks with dip, we asked to buy more and they refused to let us pay but kept bringing more. After a couple of hours we were brought an on the house drink to try which was really nice. They were attentive enough to notice that after quite a few drinks I was attempting to read a Greek menu with a confused look on my face, and asked if I would like the English one.
