Pre-booked a twin room with Acropolis view balcony for $106.50USD (plus Greek mandatory €1.50 surcharge on checkout) almost a year in advance. After taking a WelcomePickups taxi (€44.00) from the international airport (30-40 minute ride), we arrived at the hotel, which is at the end of a small quiet side street. As we arrived early (10AM), our room was not early but they kindly took our bags and gave us a map to start exploring. When we returned later around 3PM, our room was ready and our bags were already in our room. Unfortunately, the battery in the card reader on our door was out and that required a few trips back and forth to get it, but these things are bound to happen.
Things we appreciated: Great location, honestly, hard to imagine any hotel has a better rooftop view of the Acropolis than this one AND it is located in a quiet location where you will actually get some sleep. You can walk 5-10 minutes and be up on the top of the Acropolis or 5 minutes to some restaurants. Staff were friendly, great service, and everything was clean and in good condition (this isn't a fancy luxury hotel but simple and basic). Jars in lobby of free Greek snack cookies and bread. Good free WIFI. AMAZING rooftop open for all guests, where a large and delicious breakfast is served (including free juices and coffee). Just watch out for the attack pigeons if you sit outside (they also have an inside section), as they are super aggressive and will literally fly by to grab food off your fork as you are holding it. You can (and we DID) use the rooftop during other times of the day (WIFI works there too), so we took snacks/ drinks up there for an amazing private getaway. Free inroom coffee and tea. Good hot water in the shower (just watch out for the sharp edge in the very small bathroom space). Nice balcony with small table with a partial side Acropolis view.
Considerations: You will have to walk 5-10 minutes for a restaurant or food, nothing right next door as this is a more residential area. The balconies are incredibly thin/small with only partial side views (still very nice but couldn't hold more than 2 average sized Europeans). Elevator is a little slow and tight and clunky (stairs easily accessible and not too high if you are mobile)
We had two other rooms used by friends, and everyone agreed it was an excellent selection. Overall we still can't believe the bargain that this place represents and would highly recommend it if you can get even close...
Read moreI stayed here for a few days this last week and let me tell you it was amazing. We stayed here for two nights nights initially then rebooked for another two nights after a brief visit to Mykonos.
The reason we stayed here was due to the amazing reviews, the rooftop view, and the breakfast reviews. When the hotel first came into view I was, admittedly, a little underwhelmed. The exterior is unassuming but once you walk inside it’s an entirely different atmosphere. Classical music was playing, pink lemonade was set out, the bar was open, the decorating and interior design were on point. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations for things both touristy and more off the beaten path.
The room was okay, a little crowded as some have said but it has everything you need. Ours didn’t have a balcony but that’s fine.
Now, the best part was the breakfast. The first morning I’m sure we each ate about 3 peoples’ worth of food. The selection was diverse and quality. Fruits, veggies, carbs, meats, sweets.. basically the entire food pyramid. The sausages are stellar, the sour cherry juice is also a must try, apricot tart, bougotsa… honestly try all of it. This was a key reason in us rebooking the hotel. I did see pictures of greek coffee in the copper pot but didn’t get it personally. Not sure if that was a room service thing or not but I’d love to try it in the future.
As for location, the street is quiet but that was perfect for us. Most things are within a 20 minute walk in any direction and you’re able to sleep without the noise of the crowds. The view of the acropolis at night/early morning is truly wonderful.
I cannot recommend this...
Read moreThis hotel is the worst value of our whole 3 week vacation in Italy and Greece. Our room. was supposed to have the view of Acropolis. We had to step out to the balcony and turn to left 90 degree through an ugly divider to see it. From our window, it was just city view. This hotel hosted a large group of youngsters who were very noisy. The soundproof of the hotel was none. We can hear people talking in the hallway, next door, door slamming, shower running etc…. In addition, we were on 4th floor, directly under the terrace. There were people up there till midnight every night. In the early morning at 5:30: the hotel staff started moving furniture and walking there to prepare for breakfast. It was not possible to sleep before midnight or after 5:30 am. The hotel staff looked nice but actually they totally forgot my request of staying at lower floor to avoid the noise from terrace. When requesting taxi for us, they did not tell us there was extra 3 euro charge for calling a taxi. plus, the staff did not know Archaeology museum was closed on Tuesday morning. We paid 274 euro for two nights on weekdays at low season. We moved to a much nicer place in Athens for only 60% of the price, finally made up the sleep we lost in Acropolis view hotel. This hotel is more a hostel, the. Bathroom and the room are very dated and tiny. Go somewhere else , you will find a much better place with lower price. BTW, the Acropolis is located on a hill in Athens, you can basically see it as long as you are in open space Iin the city center, no need to stay...
