This hotel was good for it's price! It was easy to book, good communication with the owner, easy and clean access to the rooms and the rooms were very nice looking. The location was fantastic! It was near the main walkway which leads straight to the Acropolis and all the stores along there. As well, there were many stores and cafes nearby.
As shown in the photos, the rooms were nice looking, but we needed up having some problems. The bathroom sink leaked underneath, the shower head holder did not hold the shower head up and so it was quite difficult to shower, and we had cockroaches (NOTE, it appears that almost every place in Athens has cockroaches and so this isn't what bothered us). The cockroaches were inevitable but initially, they hadn't cleaned the room very well and so the blankets they kept in the cupboard had dead cockroaches in them. We also found a lighter from the previous owners in the room. Once we discovered these problems, we messaged the owner asking them to fix (and mediate the bugs) and asking for fresh towels. The owner was very quite to respond and they usually responded within the hour with 24/7 availability. They assured us that they would remedy the situation but there way no follow-through. When we got back to our room, the beds had been made, the bathroom sink no longer leaked, they set some cockroach traps, and they had replaced 2 out of our 3 towels of which the new towels were damp (so were they really new, or did they fold up our used towels?)... The shower head holder still didn't work, they missed a towel somehow, the 'new' towels were damp, and they didn't empty the garbages.
Our last problem with this place was that on our last day we needed a taxi early in the morning and so we filled out a transfer form with the owner. When we waited outside for our taxi, the taxi had not contacted us as we were assured they would've and he never came... We ended up installing an app (chase that's how they do it here unless you speak Greek) and ordering a taxi in order to not miss...
Read moreI confess that as our taxi weaved it's way into smaller and smaller streets and the amount of graffiti increased I began to wonder what I had done in terms of making this booking.|The building itself bears no advertising of it's nature and we did wonder whether we had been dropped at the right location - not aided by our initial attempts at gaining access.||However, as soon as we were inside we knew that we had made a good choice - the doorway was like an entrance to a different world and instantly felt safe and comfortable and that was before we even got to our room.|If not already apparent to you then please note that the property is a simple self-catering, self-check in one comprising in our case of a bedroom, shower room (bath would have been better) and a small storage space, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.||It always surprises and disappoints me that such venues don't provide just a small amount of coffee / milk / bottled water to ease visitors arrival but there is a very comprehensive convenience shop just around the corner.||Not having visited Greece before, let alone Athens we had no idea what to expect but dropped our cases and headed out into the evening.|We had been given rough directions by our excellent taxi driver but had not quite anticipated the fact of just how short a stroll we would have for our first sighting of the Acropolis and Panthenon.||We had walked for just 5 minutes before being blown away by the spectacle viewed from an adjoining street although it would be fair to say that it is probably more difficult to find areas of Athens that don't have a view of the Acropolis than it is to find those that do.||If we ever revisit Athens then we would definitely look at coming back here rather than the location of our second part of our stay which was a disaster given expectations attaching to certain high end brands...
Read moreOverall the place is ok. We paid $92/night Canadian for the place, upgrading to a balcony instead of the basement because some reviews here say the basement is sketchy and moldy. The room wasn't bad, it was functional and tried to be fancy although it didn't really fully feel like it- like someone updated it but chose to upgrade using the on sale stuff. So modern but not tasteful.
I didn't like the poor communication, like tell me where the locker is (outside) so I know where the retrieve the key. I shouldn't have to ask. Tell me how the elevator works we never got the thing to run. How does the heat work? We never got it running.
The shower wasn't a fan of the design the water goes all over the bathroom floor but there is a second drain there which helped. The shower head didn't rain down properly it leaked down in one gulp which was substandard.
I guess all in all it wasn't that bad of a place just a few things needed to make the stay more comfortable and a solid 4 or 5 star. I'd give it 3.6 stars maybe out of 5 for my rating it wasn't horrible but didn't blow my socks off so if you can get it for a good price then that's not a bad location. Maybe aim for the north where all the action is as a tourist though if you can...
