Naval Hotel Αegina — Hotel in Municipality of Aegina

I visited the hotel without a booking to check the rooms after reading the comments here.

I had read 1 very negative comment and, the rest quite fair.

Unfortunately the negative comment didn't go as far as my negative experience when visiting the hotel myself.

I walked in shortly after arriving by ferry. Yes, it is a little bit of a walk from the harbour, but it isn't too bad.

I arrived at the accommodation after a 10 minute walk with minimal luggage.

I found someone on reception working on some maintenance/repairs and I asked if they had availability for that night.

I had already checked online search tools confirming they do. The man at the front desk was very rude. He grudgingly showed me a room literally next to the reception. He insisted that I should take that room. He said 'what's wrong with that room?' I asked if I could see a room away from the reception as it tends to be noisy when customers check-in and out, and I wanted to be able to sleep without noise.

Then, he again grumpily took me upstairs to the level where the pool is located. He intended to show me two rooms. He opened the doors and tried to show me inside but he then said 'don't come in'. They were either not clean, or he was showing me rooms of guests not present at the moment. Who knows? He ruled out those rooms after his failed attempts.

Finally, when walking me back to where the reception is located he showed me another room which is just next to the stairs that take you upstairs/downstairs to the pool level and the room aforementioned.

I checked that room, and I liked it. I said I wanted it.

The moment I handed my bank card to this man he said 'cash only'.

And, I said 'hey, wait a minute... if you don't want cash I can go online and book it through an online agency which showed availability for that hotel and room?' But no chance. He said 'no, cash only'. And, he went back to the maintenance/repair works he was doing when I had arrived, and as I was heading out of the hotel he started to speak with someone from the hotel in Greek as if he was complaining for the situation.

I find very strange hotels that don't accept cards in the 21 century and in a country like Greece that charges to withdraw cash unless one has a Greek bank account. I don't live in the eurozone, and it costs me a lot in ATM fees to get Euros in Greece. It feels as if they are hiding something. Also, for insurance purposes I need an invoice and confirmation of stay just in case something happens. You never know.

I would NOT RECOMMEND this accommodation by any means.

I can see a very rude attitude likely by those who run the accommodation, or complacency by them. I didn't feel safe at all. I didn't feel treated with respect, it gave me a really rough bad first impression of the island.

Fortunately later I checked two accommodations. One has sold out as Google maps stated and the other available. I booked the later. I paid both the price of the night and the municipal fees by card. Also, it is a front line hotel from the beach. I will recommend that accommodation in a...

Where do I begin? I surely don't know but I'll try to give an accurate representation of what you will face when booking a night at this atrocious hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel and looking up at his white crumbling walls, you will think to yourself 'what have I done??'. But you'll venture on and enter the hotel through some backdoor alley way to the main entrance. If you're lucky you'll be greeted by a man at reception and shown to your room (we've seen other quests waiting for hours because nobody was there). You will pray for a room on the top floors with a balcony, but no, the man will bring you to the basement, give you the key and he will leave immediately (and you will soon understand why). When you finally qet the door open (the lock is horrible) you'll be greeted by a nice comforting smell of mold, when you inspect the room you notice there is no trash can, no table, no chairs, daylight, no ventilation, and not even a hook for your towels to dry on (even though they will never dry because of the humidity). The bathroom won't be clean and there is hair everywhere. And if you are lucky you'll find an occasional poop stain on te wall. The only positive thing about the room is the warm water, the cool temperature and the amount of mirrors (there are about thirty). That's it for todays review, I hope you enjoy your stay, we...

Αξίζει να το διαβάσει κάποιος!!!! Απορώ με κριτικές που διαβάζω και λένε πόσο υπέροχα είναι τα δωμάτια και πόσο καθαρά, επίσης διαβάζω και για την ευγένεια του ιδιοκτήτη.....Πραγματικά δεν ξέρω που έχετε νοικιάσει στο παρελθόν να μείνετε και το βρίσκετε υπέροχο, σε στάβλους σας έβαζαν; Τέσπα πάμε παρακάτω!! 6/7/2024 φτάνω στην Αίγινα, μαζί με την γυναίκα μου και το παιδί, μέσω ενός χορευτικού συλλόγου, στο σύνολο σχεδόν 15 άτομα, για ένα χορευτικό event που θα γινόταν στο λιμάνι. Πάμε στο ξενοδοχείο ( το δίκλινο που μείναμε εμείς ήταν στα 60€ μαζί με πρωινό ) και εννοείται ότι περιμέναμε να έρθει κάποιος να μας δώσει τα δωμάτια, (τους ψάχναμε γενικά) μόλις μπαίνουμε στα δωμάτια, αντικρίζουμε στο σύνολό μας, οτι δν ήταν καθαρισμένα τα δωμάτια και στα περισσότερα δεν είχαν αλλάξει ούτε τα σεντόνια και μύριζε και μούχλα. Ενώ μπήκαμε στο δωμάτιο εγω με την γυναίκα μυ και το παιδί, μπήκαν και τα πεθερικά μου, καθώς δεν είχαν ακόμα έτοιμο δωμάτιο, σε ερώτηση του πεθερού μου , πότε θα είναι έτοιμο το δωμάτιο και οτι περιμένουν πολύ ώρα, η απάντηση του υπευθύνου ήταν . Επαγγελματίας δλδ, για να καταλάβεις αμέσως με ποιούς έχεις να κάνεις. Σε μίνι κουβέντα που είχα με τον υπάλληλο της reception, τον ρώτησα τι ακριβώς γίνεται καθώς όλοι είχαν παράπονα . του λέω , φίλε μου υπάλληλος είσαι το ξέρω, αλλά τι κάνει ο ιδιοκτήτης; Με διορθώνει λέγοντάς μου οτι είναι υπεύθυνος και συνεχίζει απαντώντας μου οτι τα δωμάτια στον 2ο όροφο είναι τέλεια και οτι τα δωμάτια που έχουμε εμείς είναι τα οικονομικά. Απαντάω εγω , οτι η μπαλκονόπορτα δεν ανοίγει και πρέπει να είσαι ο ΤΡΟΜΑΡΑΣ για να την ανοίξεις και μου λέει γι' αυτό είναι σε αυτά τα χρήματα. αν δεν σου αρέσει να φύγεις. Απαντάω και λέω αν έβρισκα κάπου αλλού θα είχα φύγει.... Κατεβαίνω μετά από λίγο να κάνω τσιγάρο, επειδή δν άνοιγε η μπαλκονόπορτα, και έρχεται με ένα μηχανάκι ο υπεύθυνος μαζί με κάποιον άλλο. κατεβαίνουν από το μηχανάκι και έρχεται προς το μέρος μου και μου λέει , με τσαμπουκά δλδ , κοιτάω με απορία προς τα πίσω μου μήπως και μιλάει σε κάποιον άλλον, και του λέω σε εμένα μιλάτε; -Ναι σε εσένα , μου είπαν οτι έχετε παράπονα με τα δωμάτια. -ναι έχουμε του λέω, ουτε καθαρά είναι, μυρίζουν μούχλα και δν έχει καθαρά σεντόνια. και εκεί αρχίζει να φωνάζει, και λέω εγω δεν σας φωνάζω. μου λέει λοιπόν το απίστευτο, έχω έρθει από ταξίδι και του λέω τι εννοείς και εμείς. συνεχίζει και λέει: -αν θέλεις βρες αυτόν τον Μ.....α που τα έκλεισε και ζήτα του τα ρέστα, γιατί στο τηλέφωνο μου είπε οτι θέλει τα πιο οικονομικά δωμάτια καθώς θα μείνουμε για έναν ύπνο. -και του λέω , ο γιός σου μου είπε οτι τα πάνω δωμάτια είναι τέλεια, -ναι τέλεια είναι λέει. -και οι υπηρεσίες του λέω και απαντάει ο τιτάνας της φιλοξενίας , φίλε ότι πληρώνεις παίρνεις. και του λέω λοιπόν, συγγνώμη δλδ η καθαριότητα έχει να κάνει με το πόσο πλήρωσα το δωμάτιο; δλδ στο ημιυπόγειο κοιμάσαι με ποντίκια , στον πρώτο το ίδιο και στον 2ο όροφο είσαι υπερλούξ με τα άστρα; και μου λέει αν δεν σας αρέσει να φύγετε, απαντάω λοιπόν , θεωρείσαι επαγγελματίας ξενοδόχος; μετά θέλετε και τουρισμό. και μου λέει ότι φίλε να ξέρεις δεν έχω που να τους βάλω. ΜΗΝ ΤΟΥΣ ΔΥΣΚΟΛΕΥΕΤΕ, ΑΦΗΣΤΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΝΑ ΠΑΡΟΥΝ ΑΝΑΣΑ τι λες ρε λέω, μόνο σήμερα σου έχουν φύγει 5 δωμάτια. Το πρωινό ήταν κυνήγι θυσαυρού, γιατί πολύ απλά το ψάχναμε μέσα σε κουλουράκια και πτι-φουρ. Παρεπιπτώντος, ο μόνος που μας υποδέχτηκε θερμά, ήταν ο νυχτερινός φύλακας που ήταν ευγενέστατος, αλλά αυτό είναι και θέμα παιδείας. Έμαθα οτι κατα την πληρωμή , ζήτησε συγγνώμη ο ιδιοκτήτης στον πρόεδρο του συλλόγου, μάλλον μόνο και μόνο για να μην "φάει" κακή κριτική. πραγματικά το θράσος και η αγένεια ήταν στα ύψη από τον ιδιοκτήτη και τον μελλοντικό ιδιοκτήτη γιό του, που μας απαντούσαν λες και θα κοιμόμασταν στο κρεββάτι τους αγκαλιά μαζί τους, λες και δν πληρώσαμε για την διαμονή μας εκεί. Άμα δεν θέλετε να δουλέψετε αφήστε το σε κάποιον άλλο που θα το αγαπάει και θα το κάνει με όρεξη, γιατί εσείς δεν έχετε ούτε την παιδεία, αλλά ούτε και τις γνώσεις να κρατήσετε...
