This is a very nice hotel situated at a prime location. It is a 10min walk from the port of Ios and the hotel is about a 2min walk from the beach.||There is a lot of restaurants and bars very close along with buses that go to the main town, Chora, where all the fun lies. You can walk to Chora which takes about 10min uphill.||The room itself is very small. It came with 2 single beds which were stuck together. So my roommate and myself pretty much shared a bed, even though we were advertised 2 beds. There is AC and WiFi, which isn’t the greatest but it works. ||The bathroom is extremely small. The shower is even smaller and the sink is best suited for a child. If you’re an overweight person, using the toilet will be hard because you’ll kinda be half inside the shower. Water pressure isn’t the greatest in the shower either.||There is a small fridge and the balcony has a little table and 2 chairs you can chill on.||The hotel also has a rooftop terrace with tables and chairs and umbrellas where you can pre drink and play music on.||The two people working at the hotel, Teo and Anna, are very nice. The room was always cleaned whenever we left.||Overall great hotel except the bathroom and the fact that both single beds are stuck together. If you’re going with a friend then you two are pretty much sharing a bed even though the hotel says the rooms have 2...
Read moreMy husband and I just arrived at this hotel that we booked via hostelbookers and although the location is great, the first thing we could told was "uhm we got a problem with your reservation, you are supposed to pay double, because its high season". Although i had the confirmed booking from hostelbookers for twice the price including payment for booking confirmation they were not going to give me the promised rate. And that although i emailed them a few days ago asking for confirmation and whether i can pay the remainder in cash upon arrival, which they said yes to. No mention of an extra price at all. When i said i wasnt going to pay they said it wasnt their fault because hostelbookers hadnt updated their prices and that i couldnt honestly believe to get the hotel for this price (half!). So because its last minute and everything is even more expensive now we were forced to pay and stay with no discount or freebies for our trouble. They acted like i was dumb to think this was the rate and that i could never find a hotel anywhere else in high season for under their charge. Yeah maybe not now anymore but almost 7 months ago when i booked i could have for sure! I am so dissappointed and cannot recommend this place. The hotel itself is ok and pretty clean but the attitude of the hotel staff/owner is...
Read moreI stayed at the Hotel Helena for one week and was made to feel very welcome by the owners Theo and Anna. They both go out of their way to make the guests feel comfortable. My room on the first floor had a lovely view of the beach and sea from the balcony and you could watch the ferries coming into the little harbour throughout the day.|It is situated in a quiet little road just off the beach, there are a number of bars and restaurants all along the front and for the price of a drink you can use the beach umbrellas and sun beds all day long.|The room was comfortably furnished with air conditioning and a fridge ,hair dryer, two single beds and a shower room and toilet, it also has free wifi throughout the building. Anna keeps the rooms spotless and towels and bed linen are changed daily.|There are a number of self catering apartments available for families or friends. This is a very reasonably priced hotel given it's position and I would highly recommend it for value and atmosphere.|There is a bus stop in the harbour and frequent buses take you up to the main Village for 1-80 euros, or you could walk up the'Donkey Steps' but it's a bit of a climb, not so bad coming down and the view is well worth it.|I cannot wait to return to IOS and will definitely be booking my seaview room at Hotel...
