Meltemi Pension — Hotel in Municipality of Ios

Just finished our 3rd visit to this ideal location, almost on the beach. We were disappointed compared to our previous visits. We were greeted by the owner George who was lovely and friendly. Our room was very basic, there was no kettle even after requesting twice, and they were available. No cups etc, just 2 glasses. Having stayed the last 3 weeks in several pensions of the same costings this is a poor standard room. We had one meal on our first night in their fish taverna, to claim this is a fish taverna is an overstatement. 12 euro for a few slithers of Octopus with no accompaniments and 8 euros for a handful of sardines again nothing to go with it. This was definitely the worst meal we had in our 3 weeks in the Cyclades. We feel the people there can't be bothered, and the rooms are very tired. I stayed here in September 2017 and thought that I had reviewed it but obviously not! |It is the most perfect rustic and homely pension with very friendly staff. It sits on the beach and has its own sun beds etc. We were always up and out and on the beds by the sea after having our breakfast. Basic but fine for the cost. Yorgos is a kind welcoming gentleman. ||Room spacious and very clean, towels, fridge, strong WiFi, upstairs with a shared balcony, overlooking the gently washing waves on Gialos Beach.||Ideal for walking round to the port and the staircase up to Chora. ||Everything peaceful and respectful. ||Bathroom a wee bit cramped for space if nitpicking; but honestly, can't fault this place. ||Great value, location, staff. ||Ideal for a few days on the lovely isle of Ios in sunburnt mid-October. ||Oh, and the giant cactus & huge white hibiscus & bougainvillea. ||A wonderful...
