There are a lot of great reasons to stay at Manthos and I definitely recommend it, however, I do have to start with a slight negative. The room I was given on arrival looked nothing like any of the photos on booking.com. I spent one night in it, but the next day asked to switch rooms because the bed was uncomfortable, the air-conditioning barely worked and even the pillow was bad (so lumpy).||||That said, once I had moved to a different room (15, on the top floor of the main block) it was a different experience. Nice beds, great air-conditioning. Excellent fast Wi-Fi etc. I did have to pay extra to 'upgrade' to the better room though, changing the nightly cost from €57 per night (reasonably cheap) to €68 a night (slightly expensive).||||The lady owner is lovely though, always says hello and is happy to help with information and advice on getting the most from the island. The pool area is fantastic and was hardly ever busy (often completely empty) during my stay, and that's peak season in August. Prices at the pool bar were reasonable, though I only ate breakfast there the first day as it wasn't great (try Cantina del Mar down on the beach for fab breakfasts).||||The location of the hotel is also excellent. Okay, it's not right on the beach so if you want to hit the sand every day, try somewhere closer, but it's right next to a bus stop and close enough to the beach that you can walk in a few minutes - there is a 'short cut' to the middle of the beach by following a path out of the bottom of the hotel, or you can take the road but it's a fairly steep hill coming back up!||||I definitely recommend staying here and would happily return, but would like them to be clearer about the different quality rooms they have available as it is misleading to only show photos of the best rooms if that's not what you might...
Read moreStayed for one week at Manthos and can highly recommend this charming hotel. The owner, Anna is a great host and goes out of her way to make your stay as memorable as possible. The rooms are clean, well equipped with fridge, air conditioning, TV and balconies with great views of Mylopotas beach. We stayed at the end of the season so spent our time at the numerous beautiful beaches on the island. As a result we didn’t use the pool area and bar but if this your thing it’s a really nice place to relax. The path down to Mylopotas beach is a great shortcut and takes no more than five minutes. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance as well as mini markets and a great bakery. We will definitely return to Manthos and highly recommend it for your visit to the beautiful...
