In late October, 2019, my husband and I stayed five nights at the Malion Rooms at the end of a month long trip to Greece. This was our favorite of the nine places we stayed in Greece, several of which were top rated luxury hotels.||||Our visit started off a day late, after the ferry to Milos from Santorini was cancelled for repair work without any warning while we were waiting for it at the port. The hotel staff kindly held our reservation for the next four days, cancelled our old transfer from the port, and arranged a new transfer from the airport when I shared our newly booked flight.||||The transfer met us at the airport without incident and took us to the Malion Apartments and Rooms. We were greeted warmly, sympathized with, and generously not charged for the non-refundable day we could not be there. They then gave us a gorgeous two room apartment with two private balconies and a spectacular view out over the harbor. Throughout our stay the staff there were kind, helpful, and saved us a number of times when we ran into trouble getting to Athens. More on this later.||||Our room had ||+ a living room area with a large sofa, and heating/cooling unit,||+ a kitchenette are with stove, dishes, glasses, mugs, plates, pots and pans, silverware and sharp knives, bottle openers and wine bottle openers, instant coffee, sugar, creamer, fridge, and a dining table and 2 chairs, ||+ a balcony with table and 2 chairs from this area that has both glass doors and separate wooden shutters, plus a spectacular view of the harbor and city,, ||+ a separate large bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet; ||+ a large bedroom with hutch, safe, huge comfortable bed with coverlet and fresh washed blanket, 2 good bedside lamps overhead lights, a separate heating/cooling unit, a television, and bedside tables, and opening off the bedroom, ||+ a wonderful bedroom balcony with glass doors and separate wooden shutters, a terrific view over the harbor and city with a small drying rack for drying clothing, which mysteriously dries in about two hours on the balcony. ||||We found the hotel quiet, comfortable, extremely well laid out with everything you need at hand, and with the nicest staff we encountered in Greece, which is saying a lot as this is a nation that prides itself on being kind to strangers. ||||We could have spent the whole time on our balconies listening to the wind play music in the sailboat riggings and on the water. It sounded like pan pipes and I have heard it nowhere else. On tour last day on Milos, which was a holiday, we heard a man singing plainsong in praise of the Greek men who gave their lives in WWII just outside our balcony, which was magical. The light on the balcony is endlessly changing here and is beautiful.||||We were only two blocks from the beautiful port city of Adamas, which has fabulous cafes, outstanding jewelers, good grocery stores, bookstores, gift shops, amazing architecture, and several remarkable churches, etc. The town of Adamas is charming friendly and lovely, plus very quiet and friendly for a port town. ||We regularly dined at the excellent harbor-side restaurant next door, which was spectacularly good for a number of our lunches and dinners. Do try their fritters, which are a regional specialty. The Greek salads were fabulous. We also liked Gregory's (bakery, sandwich shop) and Yankos (cafe), which are very nearby in Adamas.||||We were only about 2 miles from some the historic town of Plaka with an archaeological museum, a folk museum, and a lot of gorgeous architecture, plus the largest Christian catacombs outside of Rome, and a major Greek theater complex that seated 7,000, plus, etc. We are also close to a number of other amazingly charming small towns and beautiful villages.||||On our last day there, they carried our luggage down for us and called a taxi, which took us to the airport. Our Sky Express flight was cancelled after five hours of waiting and having our boarding passes (the second time this happened to us out two Sky Express Flights we booked). Hint: Do not fly Sky Express in Greece. Out of two flights we booked with them, both were cancelled and refunds were a nightmare.||||We called the Mallion Rooms staff, who sent a taxi to take us to the hotel, gave us our same room, they carried our heavy luggage up, while they sent us and the tax to a travel agent in a mad attempt to get on the following day's ferry to Athens (since all flights were full that day and the next) and the boat was almost full.||||We happily got the tickets, and arrived back at our room breathless and grateful to find our luggage back in our room. The hotel staff apologized for the ferry and offered to give us the room free, which we could not accept. The following day they drove us to the ferry port.||||We are deeply grateful to the staff of the Malion Rooms, who treated us like family, offered us excellent advice, and made all the difficulties go away for us on our visit to their beautiful hotel, beautiful city, and glorious island. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Malion Apartments and...
Read moreOur stay at Malion Rooms was nothing short of incredible. Our room was huge, clean, and the balcony was so spacious! The balcony overlooked the harbour and we spent every morning eating our breakfast enjoying the view.
The hotel was easy to find and was well within walking distance of the port (about 5-10 mins). Malion Rooms is ideally located in Adamas, with many options for restaurants, shops, transportation rentals, etc. at your doorstep. Papikinou beach is only about a ten minute walk from the hotel, and other beaches aren't far at all, whether you're using public transit or driving yourself.
Our hosts - where to begin? Manolis and Sasa are simply wonderful human beings who truly want to ensure their guests' happiness in any way they can. They were able to accommodate an extra night for us with very short notice and provided us with many helpful suggestions for places to eat, vehicle rentals, and beaches to visit. Sasa even made us coffee and brought us treats. We are so fortunate to have met them, they are sincerely lovely people and made our time in Milos that much...
Read moreThis was a pleasant surprise on our holiday. The location is FANTASTIC, walking distance from the port. It is also where most yacht trips depart from. Great restaurants all around as well as supermarkets and car rental places.
The hosts Manolis and Sasha deserve a special mention as they made us feel so at home. They went above and beyond when our ferries were cancelled and I cannot recommend this place enough even if it is just to meet these lovely people. They were also there for recommendations and advice. Thank you both for making our time so special!
The rooms are gigantic and super clean and some rooms even have a little kitchenette for cooking. It’s even lovelier than the pictures! The bathrooms are nice and have everything you need. They even provide beach towels.
We will 100 percent stay here the next time we’re...
