Read moreMy guesthouse host recommended this place...we have all heard that before...maybe his nephew runs the place (true, but this is an island with 5000 people, so it's harder to find a restaurant where a relative doesn't work), or less attractive reasons (no, my landlord is an honourable man), or some juicy salacious stuff (can't see it). No, I think he is generally comfortable recommending it. And with good reason. There's a lot to like here. It's as reliable as a lexus, comfortable as...well..a lexus...and generally pleasurable as....hmmm...a lexus? The bread is pretty woeful..barely today's, but the tapenade rescues the deal. The Greek salad is a sold 7/10. The dressing, olives, tomatoes and cucumber are all fine, but fine only gets you to 7/10. The fish is "full price". A 330g ungutted fish is €24. It was quite well cooked, though at home you'd hope to have the frame only just pull away from the fillets. Here, they operate at the table, with all the skill of a caring seamstress (is there such a thing as a seamster?) If the fish was less cooked, our friendly surgeon may make the chef, shall we say "uncomfortable". The accompanying veg are rustically cut, but serve a purpose. The accompanying olive oil, lemon juice and oregano dressing lean a little too heavily to the former. The free dessert is yum, and cleverly blowtorched à la minute. This is a slick operation in a town where its better to be slick than slack. Good place....
