Hotel Ilion — Hotel in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

The location was sensational - a few steps from the well organised St George beach and only a 10 minute walk through shopping areas to the old town centre. Plenty of tavernas, cafes and grocery stores in the local St George area if you wanted to stay close-by and not walk into town (although our walk into town each night for dinner by the harbour was amazing). The hotel itself is charming and spotlessly clean with all the facilities you would need to make for a comfortable home away from home (air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and quality linens, nice balcony), The hotel owner Sofia, is a lovely lady who goes out of her way to make her guests very comfortable. Her beautifully cooked breakfasts each morning were a delight! We loved our stay in Naxos and believe a lot of our enjoyment of our time there was because of our wonderful stay at Illion Hotel - we would definitely like to return and highly recommend this hotel. Additionally, after we'd left the hotel, we realised we'd left a memory stick attached to the television. I emailed Sofia and asked if she could post it to a nominated hotel further down our itinerary. She immediately responded for us not to worry and she'd do so, which was thankfully waiting for us upon our arrival. When booking our trip to stay in Naxos, we looked at reviews and found this one was highly rated. Decided to take a chance and boy are we glad we did. The host, Sophia has owned this place for 25 years. The location is right next to the beach, an easy 30 second walk to the sand. This location is just on the outskirts of the downtown but very easily walkable. Many good restaurants nearby to choose from and of course many beachfront bars and restaurants as well. Grocery stores, nearby, bike rentals, rental car, laundromat, ATV rentals and pretty much everything you’re looking for. The rooms are typical island style, ours came with a mini kitchenette with the refrigerator and a patio. The amazing part of this stay was the hospitality and Sophia‘s amazing breakfast spread that she puts out every morning. All her dishes that she makes are authentic Greek items. Our room was standard and the bathroom was a bit small but the best parts of this hotel are the location and hospitality. Once you walk out the front of the Ilion you are steps away from beautiful Agios Georgios Beach. There you can relax in the sand and swim in the clear Aegean Sea. In addition, you are within easy walking distance to grocery stores, shopping, the marina waterfront, port, castle, museums, Temple of Apollo and dozens of restaurants. You do not need a car if you stay here. The host, Sofia, was wonderful. She picked us up and dropped us off at the port, printed documents we needed and her breakfasts were amazing. Every day she baked freshly made Greek specialties and treats that were delectable. She would also prepare cooked-to-order eggs for us. She made this a 5-star rating.
