DO NOT MISS!!! We walked by this restaurant about 10 times, going towards the port to restaurants such as Scirocco, Taverna, To Elliniko and more, not realizing this gem we had just next door to our hotel! It was only at the insistence of our host, that we try the best restaurant in Naxos (“Incredible prawn Metaxa!”), that we thought, why not? Why NOT?! Why not earlier?! Shouting out loudly, as we ate at how absolutely delicious everything was (because it was!!), trying to slow people down to give this restaurant a chance, as we had. Seeing people look and then leave. A humble place, with a humble paper menu, hides what is an incredibly tasty, creative, modern greek experience, mixed in with some classics. We truly feel the passion and love of the chef, in traversing the appetizers through to dessert. Here is what we ordered; Artichoke Bruschetta (Simple and tasty) Prawn Metaxa (Wow wow wow) Nostimon Hellas Salad (Best salad we’ve had in Naxos. The marinated prawns and the sauce were an explosion of interesting flavours) Lamb Kleftiko (Tender with deliciously crunchy potato croquettes accompanying) Dessert: Kounefe (Crunchy, syrup soaked angel hair with cheese, topped with ice cream, candied violet and nuts - YUM!)
Please do yourself a favour, if you’re waiting in a long line to go eat at “To Elliniko” (also fantastic !!), which is opposite, give this little guy a chance. It may just be the most delicious restaurant in Naxos, that we’ve tried! We’ll be...
Read moreI would have loved to have a positive review like most of the others, but unfortunately that was not the case. We went in a group of 7, called ahead of time, and arrived 5 minutes early. The restaurant was quiet when we walked to the back, so we chatted in whispers and were respectful of those around us. It took the restaurant 20 minutes to bring us over place mats, plates, and silverware. When the waitress came over, she was nothing but rude. She asked questions about how we would like our steak cooked, answering “medium”, we replied “well-done”and then aggressively said, “No!” to our responses. She pretended the “local cheese” she offered to one person in our group didn’t exist and refused to explain to one of our party members, but answered others. To finish up ordering she asked us if we were sure we wanted to stay because the meals wouldn’t come out at the same time. We assured her this was fine. Three minutes later, she comes back and says they have no lamb. We asked for a minute to look over alternative suggestions. She told us we needed to pick then or we could leave. So sad that a top rated restaurant would treat paying, respectful, customers like this. There are many other restaurants we went to who offered great hospitality. This was by far the worst experience our group had during the trip. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless you don’t mind being undermined, stared at, and ridiculed in front of...
Read moreNostimon was, hands down, one of the highlights of our stay on Naxos. We went here almost every day for a delicious lunch or a light dinner. The food is absolutely delicious, prepared from local ingredients by a kitchen wizard with love (hello Boss!). You can have a fresh home-made lemonade with that, or some of the wide selection of beers (or wine, I suppose - cannot report). Or, if you would like to taste coffee as it was meant to be when the gods first thought of it, have the double Greek. Perfection. The place is cozy, small-ish and feels like home. They had the immense wisdom here, unlike basically anywhere else on the island, not to cram the lovely inner courtyard with 98 tiny tables, so you can eat in peace at an adult-human-sized table without having a fight to the death with some clueless chump at the next table for the last four inches of breathing space. All that goodness served to you by the nicest, most charming lady you can ever wish for (hello Mrs. Iota!), who is willing to go very far above and beyond to make you feel like home. Hell's bells, I got chicken soup for my girlfriend's ailing tummy. Without asking. There is no chicken soup on the menu. I simply have no words. Our vacation would not be the same without this place. Can only recommend wholeheartedly, sing praises and wish...
