This place came close to ruining an otherwise stellar vacation. We booked the King 2 Bedroom Suite with Indoor Jetted Tub – Semi Basement for three nights.||||We were ushered to our room, a large underground suite that smelled like industrial cleaning detergent with the air conditioners set as low as possible. We increased the temperature of the air conditioners and took a nap. When we woke up, there was water pouring down the walls, and the all-tile floor throughout the room was so slick you couldn’t safely walk on it (we have little kids so this was particularly troubling). When we mentioned this, we were told this never happened before – perhaps it was the indoor jetted tub, which is basically a tub of cold chlorinated water perpetually filling in the corner of the room. So we tried to dry the floors and the walls (a surreal experience), asked them to turn off the tub, went to the beach, and decided to give it a fair chance.||||When we returned, the same problem persisted. We reiterated the issue, and they sent a cleaning person to clean the room and mop the floors. She did her best, but there wasn’t much she could do. We tried to make the best of it and proceeded to get ready for dinner. One shower had a hand shower that didn’t work. One shower produced only cold water. Again, we did our best to shrug it off. We then noticed a fetid, sewage-like odor emanating from one of the bedrooms. That was the last straw. We demanded another room.||||We were given another room on the first floor but told that we could only use it for one night. When we got to the room, the lights didn’t work. Once they were able to remedy that problem, we put the kids to bed. At this points, both kids were freaked out to put it lightly by the bizarre sequence of events. We barely slept because (1) the room did not have a double-lock and (2) the room was ground-floor accessible through a patio door. Additionally, the glass panel in the shower was not properly fastened. The room also smelled of industrial cleaning detergent (it appears all rooms have a Tork odor eliminating unit).||||We made it through the night and spent the next morning seeking a different hotel. We informed the management that we couldn’t stay in the same room and were given another room – also on the first floor but with a less awful smell. We were told we could have this room for one night and that there was another room ready for another night. This room looked great at first blush, but when it came time to shower (after the beach) we discovered the glass door to the main bathroom made cracking noises and appeared to be falling off its hinge and that there was no hot water in either bathroom. At this point we all had enough – it’s a terrible feeling to be with children in a foreign country in a hotel that feels like either it’s just systematically unsafe and improperly maintained or is playing a practical joke on you.||||We were lucky to find a room (thankfully we had a rental car we could use to travel around with our suitcase) at another hotel (at our expense of course). We asked for a refund and were offered and refunded only ½ of the amount we paid. So for one night of terrible and unsafe accommodations and basically one day of our vacation devoted to dealing with all this, we paid ½ the total fare for three nights. ||||Thank you to the maintenance staff who did their utmost to resolve...
Read moreWe stayed in the “Odysseus” room. Out of all of the hotels we stayed in while in Greece this was by far the nicest. I will break up my review into multiple parts.
Room: The room was very nice and up to date. The air conditioner was very hit or miss. We had to turn it on and off multiple times and mess with the temperature settings to get it to cool the room. This made for some uncomfortable nights during our stay.
All of the beds we encountered during our stay in Greece were on the firm side. However, this hotel had by far the worst beds we slept on. My wife and I both woke up sore every morning from how uncomfortable they were.
Food: Breakfast is included every morning in a buffet fashion. As far as hotel breakfast goes the food was very good. However, do not expect a warm meal. The eggs and meat were cold every morning no matter the time we got breakfast.
Day 1 we ordered dinner from the restaurant on the hotel grounds. My meal came with a baked potato split in two with Naxos cheese on top. The potato was cold like it just came out of the refrigerator. The meat on the skewer was very dry unless it was fattier piece in which case it was very tender.
Spa: Staff was very helpful in answering questions and making sure we had what we needed. The sauna was excellent. The jacuzzi room was a bit of a let down. The water temperature was slightly warmer than hot bath if that. There is no way to adjust the temperature. If you’re used to hot tubs in the states you’ll be disappointed. The massages were good and the staff explained each one thoroughly before we decided on the type.
Service: Fresh beach/spa towels had to be requested at the front desk every day. House cleaning will take your old ones but not give you new beach towels.
There is service at the beach which was good when used. However, you need to initiate with the staff or you will not be asked if you need drinks/food. No follow up on if you need another drink by the staff either after your drink is finished.
About an hour before our arrival I called the hotel to inquire about the free shuttle pickup from the port. I was informed by the desk clerk that another couple was already using the shuttle but if they were okay with it we could ride with them and was given a location for the shuttle. We located the shuttle and the driver did not want to take us and said he already had the couple. I mentioned the desk clerk said it was okay if they agreed. When asked if he asked them if it were okay he just mentioned there wasn’t room and we would need to take a taxi or bus. Thankfully the couple overheard the conversation and allowed us to ride with them. This was partially on me for scheduling the shuttle late but the whole thing was more of an issue than it needed to be.
When we arrived in Athens on 8/30 we were informed sky express canceled our flight out of Naxos on 9/11. Once sorting that out I contacted the hotel on 8/31. Our email stated no modifications after 8/22 but was hoping they would work with us given the circumstances. Be aware that the hotel will stick to their policy and not work with you regardless of the situation.
Overall the staff was helpful but the above issues need to be addressed to really make the experience great. The property is beautiful with beach access directly...
Read moreNot as advertised at all. Misleading information about hotel on their website. We paid for a pool view suit with jacuzzi. Got the worst room out of the hotel. We have been in a lot of European 5* and 4* hotels and knew to confirm by a phone call prior to arrival that we will be accommodated to the specified room. We were not expecting this horror. And we asked for upgrade and everything was unavailable. ||When we arrived and after we complained and our agent wrote email about refund they suddenly found us a better room which is renovated. No thank you. It’s not just the room! We are checking out tomorrow and off to an other place. Thank you for bad experience and a lesson!! Don’t trust the website. We asked for the refund from the days we won’t be staying and they would not do it. Very sad and disappointing. Would love to see the owner of this hotel. And hear what they have to say. ||||Pool - very sandy floor. We were told it was cleaned and it wasn’t in the morning looked the same. View at the pool is to the small side road and car park from the pool. ||||Breakfast - advertised till 11 am. We came down at 10.20 there were plenty of free tables with left filthy plates. When I asked for a table for 4 we were told to find one and sit they will clean 😳. I’m not sitting with dirty dishes in front of me. There were no bacon and no pancakes left. What kids wanted. When I asked for more I was told no more. I am vegetarian so I had enough veg left which was nice. Kids are hungry! ||||Beach - yes directly across the road as advertised and yes white sand. Beds are filthy 😩. First come first served someone tried to reserve but were removed because there was a family with no space just landing on the sand. Also if you are happy in the overcrowded beach it will do. Thank you Georgia for the great service at the beach. She was brilliant. 🤩 ||||Room - stay away from Aeolos room. Dingy, filthy, tiny bathroom. Check the pics and videos. Yes I had a look at the pool rooms from outside looked like still very small rooms plus pool is a size of a foot spa only. ||||Spa - not sure if you can call it a spa. One small sauna room and one small steam room with an other oversized jacuzzi. That’s all. We did not book no massages at all. Did not look nothing special. ||||Gym - nothing exciting a few machines but will do for some keep up exercises during holidays.||||Thank you Sofia (manager) for trying your best and suddenly offering us a better renovated room but the hotel experience and expects are not as described in your website at all. ||||Honestly people...
