Nikos Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

My jaw just dropped that there were any negative reviews about this place. My group of 6 ate here on the beach during our trip to Naxos. We made a reservation as requested for 8:00 to eat on the beach. We watched the sunset and enjoyed a 3 hour meal. Our service was great - you are in Greece so it is customary that they generally leave you alone unless you wave them over. Our server was noticeably busy with his beach tables so some drinks were a little slow to come out, but within understanding as the server has to walk across the beach and street to get to the restaurant itself. He was very nice and answered all of our questions about the menu. Standard Greek fare on the menu. We had tzatziki with pita, stuffed grape leaves, bruschetta, mussels, and several types of wine and entrees. We all tasted each other’s and there was not a mediocre thing on the table, let alone anything bad. 6 alcoholic drinks, an appetizer, two entrees and a take away bottle of wine landed us at €150. We took the bus from near the main port in Nexos to come to the beach. We saw Nikos as we exited the bus. It seemed like an unassuming little restaurant like the others but we liked the menu and the seats at the beachfront. Only ordered grilled sardines and a Greek salad. Didn’t even think to take photos but everything was so great. Sardines were fresh and grilled and it came with grilled vegetables with a wonderful honey/balsamic sauce on top. Vegetables were eggplant, sweet peppers, and spinach. They were all wonderful and a great surprise/relief in a country that almost everything comes with French fries. It was late afternoon and they even brought us each a scoop of complementary ice creams after the meal which felt great and refreshing in the warm afternoon. Service was quite friendly and good. All at very reasonable price. Very hard to beat in terms of quality and quantity of food, level of service, location and view, and price. I would go back again and again. Save yourself the effort and do not bother with this place for anytime of the day. Ignored at the dinner service and during the day, trying to get two coffees at the beach is like trying to pull teeth from a donkey’s behind! Unprofessional, unapologetic and useless. I’m expecting a reply from the owner as I’ve seen from other reviews, happy to receive in either Greek or English; your choice!

Exactly what we were anticipating. The petulant response of an owner incapable of running a smooth business. No wonder there were beds available and everywhere else was packed.

We also noted that service was so slow that all nearby Greeks were getting food and drinks from elsewhere and bringing them to the beds to consume. If we don’t have any patience then neither do your other customers. Thanks for the definition but everyone’s patience has a limit, even yours!
