Read moreJust returned from a fabulous week at the Hotel Coral, half board basis. Family of 5 in 2 rooms in the garden block, a mezzanine room and a twin bedded room (nos 45 and 52). |We were welcomed from the bus by the receptionist and assisted with cases. Swift check in and explanation of card entry, air con and meals. There are stairs only to the first floor rooms in this block, with lovely views up into the hills. The rooms provide all we wished for, spacious, comfortable beds, free aircon and Wi-Fi, safe €10/wk, hairdryer, toiletries, TV, en-suite with wet room in family room and over bath shower in twin room. Balconies are quite small but accommodate a small table and chairs with a drying rail. Cleaner Maria was lovely and kept our rooms spotlessly clean.|Plenty of comfy sun beds and parasols around the pool and in the garden area which was quieter and peaceful. Book exchange shelf was a nice touch in the outdoor bar area.|The restaurant area was beautiful with stunning views across the sea towards Albania and wonderful sunsets. A set meal was offered on half board with 2 choices of starter and main with salad and bread, main choice could be swapped for an a la carte choice of a certain value which was clearly explained by staff. Adonis, Yannis and lady waitress…. whose name I cannot spell…were amazing, so friendly and helpful and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay.|The Greek night on a Wednesday was an experience to behold and participate in! BBQ night on Sunday with a saxophonist was a lovely way to end our holiday.|The Coral is in a stunning location separated from the beach only by a quiet road, access into the water via wooden steps , sand shoes maybe useful as the first couple of meters can be stony before reaching the soft sand and warm shallow waters. Perfect for the paddle boards and kayak provided. 2 pushbikes and 2 electric bikes also available (adult sizes). I think there are also some fishing rods available.|2 minute walk to the supermarket, 5 mins to the main tourist shops, beach bars and restaurants with ‘free sun beds’, 10 mins to soft sandy beach without sun beds.|Don’t hesitate to book, Roda appeared to appeal to all ages, is gentle and peaceful even in the peak season, lively without being overpowering and the Coral is a jewel in its crown. Thank you to the Coral family...
Read moreOur room was quite small but had all amenities. A little disappointed with our balcony which was small with concrete walls on three sides. Not conducive to relax on. We had a view when standing over some of the gardens and the sea to the left.If we were to return I would ask for either a ground floor room with open balcony or a room overlooking the pool -with glass balconies. The bathroom came supplied with a squidgy as it flooded but we learnt how to manage this. Shower was hot and towels were changed daily. The room was spotless and the housekeepers brilliant. The bed was quite hard |The breakfast was good -coffee wasn't great but a good selection of teas. Orange juice terrible which is sad when oranges are literally dropping off the trees. Never saw oranges on the breakfast table or in the restaurant so maybe they aren't sweet enough. |The gardens and plants are beautifully maintained |We were half board so ate dinner in the restaurant .Same menu repeated weekly. Food was ok with room for improvement on some. Main meals came with no accompaniments most of the time. Stifado was very good as were pork steaks |Pizzas and bar snacks were good and reasonably priced. George on the pool bar was brilliant as was all service. |Unfortunately the pool was freezing and you literally came out with blue feet or hands if you touched the sides of the pool. |Staff were all friendly and helpful |Unfortunately we missed bbq night and Greek night due to weather but no alternative was offered other than normal menu. We were never offered the menu at dinner -just the two choices from set menu |Roda itself looked tired and a bit tatty but I guess it was the end of the season so can understand that somewhat. |We found a lovely ice cream bar and a great pastry shop-both Greek owned. |We chose this hotel as a family owned independent hotel and this showed with the friendly hotel team and also for its reasonable price. Lots of guests return year after year and I can appreciate why |It is a lovely hotel in a beautiful position, immaculately kept , looking over the sea to the mountains of Albania. |With a few tweaks this small well kept hotel could...
