Honestly speaking, I don't understand such high scores of the reviews of this hotel in Maleme, because it's honestly speaking - terrible. And it's not only my opinion. We have arrived 6 persons there and booked 3 separate rooms for 3 nights stay. Thank's God, that we have decided to stay there only for 3 nights, because it was not the best experience we have found. The only positive things are quiet area and free parking near the hotel. And that's all. Everything else is BAD or very BAD. Let's start from the beginning: there are no clearly visible signs of the hotel from main road and you can easily skip the turn to a very small street. When we checked in, we have got 3 rooms near each other - number 16, 17 and 18. All rooms were with issues. In one room remote controls were not working, because of rusty batteries inside. Another room has strong mold odor. It was so strong, that there were not possible to sleep. We have asked immediately reception for a change of the room, but Kostas, who was in reception, said, that they are fully booked. I have checked immediately availability in hotel's official website and found, that it was a lie - they had plenty of available rooms, because it was middle of the week. Then Kostas started lying, that they have available rooms only for that night, but there are no free rooms for following nights. Of course, it was not truth, but anyway. The behavior of the hotel manager Kostas was so arrogant and unprofessional, that we were surprised, how he is still working in the hotel? He must be FIRED immediately, but we guessed, that he is one of the owners of the hotel. Otherwise, it's not possible to explain such his phrases as: "I am busy and don't disturb me", when I have asked for this attention. Is this normal behavior of the hotel manager? I don't think so. The whole hotel area was worn out, dirty and damaged. I can't understand so high rates of this terrible place, because: Internet connection was not stable and very very slow, sometimes it was not working at all During our 3 nights stay nobody cleaned our room. Trash cans were emptied only after conflict with Kostas Huge tufts of hair in the pool (picture attached - it was really disquisting) Sunshades near the pool were torn and damaged (picture attached) Outdoor chaise lounges were so worn out, that it was unpleasant to lie on them (picture attached) Air conditioning is terribly weak, almost non cooling at all Air hockey table in the hotel area was broken too, even sliders looked in very bad condition. How they are not ashamed to offer tourists entertainment with such with such...
Read moreBack a week from our stay at the Ledra Hotel. And man I could quite easily jump on a plane straight back there!!|It was brilliant from start to finish. We arrived in the early hours, and I messaged ahead to ask for a bottle of water to be put in the fridge. As we had no idea of the hotel, never been there before and what was available first thing. Opened the fridge to find it there at 2am. Very simple gesture, I agree. But one that told me we had made the right decision booking there.||The whole place was spotless, that’s the first impression we got on looking at our room and the surrounding areas. You could tell instantly, that everyone involved with the hotel took pride in how the resort looked. The communal areas were all maintained to a very high level, with nothing left out that shouldn’t be.||The wonderful staff the Ledra, couldn’t do enough for you, if you had any questions. And were always very polite and had a smile on their faces. ||Kostas, was the main man. If it was making a coffee, making you lunch or making your evening meal. He was on it. His cretan salads are fantastic and go superbly with his calamari. And I should know. I ate enough. His son Pedros is also a great guy and the pair make a brilliant team. But as before, everyone there are a credit to the hotel. And as one, really make it a special place.||The general feeling of the resort, is one of relaxation and calm. Everyone, ie other guests, we’re very respectful of each other. Which as a family we found really nice. And if, as we did you wanted just to spend the day round the pool. You could definitely relax and unwind.||We highly recommend the Greek night. It’s an evening that will give bang for your buck! With wonderful food all cooked fresh on site. And then traditional dancing that includes everyone, if you should want to join in. And we did. A truly great fun evening.||The beach is only minutes away, with a great restaurant and sun lounger service if you should want. A real bonus.||The local bus arrives about every 20 - 30 minutes which takes you to Chania. A beautiful port town, with more shops and fantastic restaurants. Than you can possibly visit in two weeks, and we had a good go. It really is a special place and looks beautiful in the day. But even more so at night we felt.||I’m not sure what else we add, to say how happy we found Ledra Hotel. But we hope you find this useful. And if you should go there. Have a great time, the same we did.||Bravo Ledra Hotel. Hope to...
Read moreWe stayed at the Ledra on the suggestion of family (who we were visiting in Crete). The complex is a lovely place, not too big, and has a more intimate feel which is decorated lovingly with flowers and plants. We should point out that we went before 'the season' started, so it was on the quieter side, and some aspects were only half running- i.e the restaurant and bar were on restricted hours. This didn't stop us enjoying our stay, as we went out with family during the day/evenings anyway. Each morning we had breakfast on site, with continental style breakfasts, fresh eggs, fresh orange juice and tea/coffee. The rooms were homey, comfortable beds, good bathrooms and they also contain small amenities should you wish to cook for yourself or get yourself hot drinks. There were a few nights with disturbances from neighbours, but that can't always be helped and for the main part the night-time sounds weren't too bad. The Ledra is close enough to mini-markets and a larger 'super market' too for those who wish to do some grocery shopping, and multiple restaurants, coffee shops and bars to explore too. It takes around 10 minutes to walk to the pebble beach too which is a benefit, and 5 minutes to the nearest bus stop. Kostas and his team are great, really welcoming and helpful and we give him full credit for all the jobs he managed to juggle during our stay. Sadly we didn't use the pool whilst there (apart from dipping our feet in) but it looked clean and inviting, a good size too, as well as a 'kiddies pool' alongside. Toward the end of our stay a pool and air hockey table were delivered which we had fun with one evening, as well as a ping pong table. It's a great spot to use as your stay, whether you wish to do more exploring off site or stay and relax on site, it fits both bills. Again, thank you...
