We arrived at our chosen accommodation the bueno apts at about 01-00 am and were met by Elly and another guy at the bar we went into the bueno reception and were given keys to room number 5 ,they led us down a passage up a ramp and then down some dodgey steps to our room so as far as we were aware we were in the burnout,we unpacked etc and because it was late we went to bed. After a day or so I sensed something wrong and I even started calling it the servants quarters. We have been coming to platanes since 2005 so we no a lot of locals in the bars and restaurants and we asked them if they could confirm whether we were in the bueno or the Elida and they indeed confirmed that we were in the Elida. We had spent a lot of money to stay in the bueno so we approached the tui rep Christina who went to speak with George who runs the bueno and he told her that we were in the bueno so we accepted this.Christina came to our room with us to discuss our concerns and she looked at some photos on the internet and she thought the pictures looked alike,so again we took her word that George was correct and we were in the bueno. We carried on with our holiday which we enjoyed greatly however we were asked by our local friend if our issue had been resolved and we said yes ,however our friend once again reiterated that we were definitely in the Elida. So once again we approached Christina the tui rep to express our concerns and she said she would make more enquiries back at her office. The next day on our return from the beach Christina was waiting for us and she apologised to us confirming what we suspected in that we were not in the bueno but in the Elida and then went on to discuss compensation. When I book a holiday and pay good money to stay somewhere the I want what I had payed for,as it was it appears George took our money and then sublet us in a less desirable accommodation thinking we maybe we would not spot is little skank ,how wrong he was because we are seasoned travelers we we were on it in flash.during our stay a couple were put in the next room but only stayed in for one night so when we saw them the next day we asked why they had moved so quickly and they said that there wasn't a room for them in the bueno upon arrival and they were put in the Elida .It appears that if your name is not noticed as a regular visitor then if they are overbooked they bump you into the less desirable Elida in the vain hope that you will not realise. If I had paid shall we say about £800 for this holiday I would have been reasonably happy but actually we paid about £1300 so somewhere along the way someone made a nice little profit out of us .George knew full well that he was being deceitful because he couldn't look at us and avoided us at all costs. If you want to stay somewhere cheap and cheerful then this is the place for you, however I paid good money to stop in the Bueno but ended up in the...
Read moreThis is a small hotel, but very beautiful. The rooms are a little old but it is no issue. They are clean and spacious, equipped with a small kitchen and various kitchenware. The pool is rather small but good enough for the amount of visitors the hotel can hold. There are various toys for kids in the pool and the garden around it. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and can give you some good recommendations for places to visit nearby. There is a problem with the parking: the road is too narrow so, if you can't park right outside the hotel, where there is space for 3-4 cars, then you'll have to park at the beach (5 minutes on foot), and, if you do that, the owners of the beach bar may not be very happy. With enough luck, though, you'll somehow manage and be alright. Overall, it is a great...
Read moreFour of us stayed at the Elida Studios four years ago. We very rarely go back to the same place more than once, but in this case, we would like to return in September 2004. The studios are well run by friendly people and are clean and adequately equipped. They are in a great location, ideal for a wide variety of restaurants and shops as well as the beach. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find Elida Studios in any brochures, and do not have their direct telephone number. If anyone has stayed there in the last six months, we would appreciate some help in locating a telephone number or tour operator that uses...
