La Stella suites — Hotel in Municipality of Rethymnon

I’d booked a 1bed apartment at La Stella in January 2022 for a 5-night stay in August. We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of Friday morning - the main door was unlocked, and we found an envelope with our name, key card, and directions to our room on the front desk. As soon as we entered room 106, I knew it was not the room I had booked. Instead, it was an exceedingly small filthy studio. Given the time, lack of staff presence and after travelling for hours with a toddler, we didn't see much option and decided to sleep in the room we'd been given.

The next morning, I went to reception to resolve this issue and found myself in a queue behind a family who had also arrived when we did to a room they had not booked and was far too small for their needs. When I spoke to a member staff, I was told I'd need to wait for the manager to arrive.

When the manager finally arrived, he informed me that the hotel was at capacity as it was high season, but that they would move us to a bigger room the next day (Saturday) and I should return to reception after 4pm to confirm this with whoever would be working then.

When I returned after 4pm, I met a member of staff called Babbis - a man not cut out for the world of hospitality. Rude, unempathetic and incredibly unhelpful. He had no knowledge of the conversation I had had earlier that day with the manager and proceeded to tell me we would have to remain in the studio and receive the difference in the room rates back. When I tried to explain that I had been planning this trip for a year and that our treatment since our arrival had been unreasonable and unsatisfactory, he did not even batter an eyelid.

I decided to follow things up by email, so I had a paper trail of all communication with the management team. They confirmed that we would not be able to move rooms on Saturday (bear in mind check-in was Thursday and we were only to be there for 5 nights) but that a room would be available on Sunday.

On Sunday morning I went to reception to enquire about moving rooms and was taken to what should have been our new room but was beyond disappointed to find that it was too not the room that I had booked 8 months prior. At this point I was deflated, frustrated, and upset. I insisted that they find us a room or refund us our money as this whole situation was impacting on the enjoyment of our stay. And not only that, there was very little in the way of an apology and no sign of compensation given the fact that we were the ones affected by all of this.

After making it abundantly clear what my position was, after 90mins I was shown to a room that my family and I moved into, 3 days after our arrival date.

Errors can happen but the manner in which they are dealt with is of the utmost importance. I feel that La Stella are in the business of making money (given the amount of people I met who experienced something similar to us) and not providing a quality customer experience for all.

As a result, I would never ever choose to spend my hard earned money on this establishment, nor could I recommend it. I rarely write reviews but often book accommodation based on them, so if you are reading this and are considering booking this property, just be aware that you may not get what...

Hotel Name: LaStella Suites Hotel|Stay: July 2025|Destination: Nikomidias 7, Rethymno 74133, Crete|||Our stay at the LaStella Suites Hotel was fantastic!||We felt welcome from the very first minute. The staff was exceptionally friendly, professional, and always helpful. You immediately notice that service is a top priority here. Big thanks to Mary Sinolaki, who was always helping with Special Requests and questions, she made the stay even better!||The room was modern, clean, and had a great balcony overlooking the surrounding countryside. The beds were very comfortable, and the air conditioning ran quietly and efficiently, perfect for warm summer nights. The cleaning ladies swept through every day, made the beds and gave fresh towels, for every person, every day. Shower gel, the hand cream and hand soap were included, little tip if these go empty, ask the cleaning ladies, they will fill everything directly.||Breakfast was delicious every day: a selection of local products, including Greek yogurt, honey, fresh fruit, pastries, and savory dishes. It was a good amount, for a balanced breakfast.||The pool area was well-maintained, with enough loungers and umbrellas, if the hotel wasn’t too full of people. If it was ever full, you have the opportunity to use the partner Hotel Atermono Boutiqe Resort, which is only 800 metres away. ||If you wanted to get to the ocean, it was a short 10 -minute walk through the beautiful town from the suburb of Rethymno. Once you got to the beach, there were enough loungers for everyone. Small tip, if your of to the beach, there are exclusive loungers from the partner hotel, which you can use for free, if you are staying at LaStella Suites. Отдыхал здесь с семьей (я, жена и двое детей 12 и 7 лет) две недели в конце июня в начале июля 2017.||Заказывал отель заранее через Booking.||От аэропорта в Ираклионе добирались чуть больше часа. Трансфер не заказывали, так как на все две недели брали машину в аренду, но на сколько я читал его заказать можно. Такси от Платанеса до аэропорта будет стоить около 90 евро.||Про отель:||Отель очень симпатичный. Все новое, очень чистое и аккуратное. Фотки, которые есть на Booking полностью отражают реальное состояние.||Про номер:||Мы выбрали номер, который называется "Апартаменты с одной спальней", соответственно в наличии присутствовали:||- одна спальня с двумя односпальными кроватями (можно сдвинуть), ||- комната побольше - студия, которая играет роль столовой, маленькой кухни и гостиной. здесь были два диванчика, на которых вполне комфортно разместились дети (для взрослого тоже нормально).||- балкон, на котором был стол и стулья, а также небольшая сушилка для постирушек. ||- санузел с душевой кабиной.||Окна выходили на небольшой сад и соседние здания. В принципе, не смотря на небольшие размеры помещения, все что нужно в номере было. Из положительного можно отметить хорошую сантехнику, новую надежную мебель, хорошее белье.||К недостаткам я бы отнес отсутствие микроволновки и стиральной машины. Еще настенные кондиционеры в обеих комнатах у меня не получилось включить на минимальный обдув. При том, что блок дует прямо на кровать, то что можно было выбрать в качестве минимума меня практически сдувало. Ну еще очень нестабильный wifi.||Про сервис:||Персонал гостиницы очень гостеприимный. Все улыбаются и всегда готовы тебе помочь. Вопросы вызывали два момента:||1. странное время начала завтрака - 8-30. Нам это доставляло неудобства, так как на пляж в итоге мы попадали не раньше 9-30, а если мы хотели куда-нибудь поехать, то сделать это "по холодку" так же не получалось. К самому завтраку претензий нет. ||2. странное время уборки номера. Горничная приходила каждый день в обеденное время, как раз тогда, когда ты вернулся с пляжа, пообедал и захотел немного вздремнуть в прохладе. При этом убирали чисто и белье меняли регулярно.||Про инфраструктуру:||Место туристическое, по этой причине в шаговой доступности множество греческих ресторанчиков. Мы посетили из них 7 штук. В целом везде примерно похожее меню - греческая кухня. Цены могут отличаться процентов на 20. Например, греческий салат может стоить от 4 до 6 евро, а мусака от 6 до 8. Порции везде очень щедрые.||В 100 метрах от отеля есть большой супермаркет LIDL. Очень похож на нашу 5-ку. Нам понравился другой магазинчик, который находится на центральной улице (Macis Kritis) в 200 метрах справа от перекрестка. Аптеку по близости мы не нашли. Зато рядом нашли химчистку, где можно постирать белье (одна загрузка машинки стоит 8 евро, результат через сутки).||Про пляж:||До пляжа пешком можно дойти минут за 10. Пляж хороший - песочек и мелкая галька. Комплект - зонтик, два лежака, столик и кресло стоит 5 евро на целый день (утром платишь, получаешь билетик, можешь например, пойти пообедать и поспать, а вечером вернуться) свободные лежаки есть всегда. Нам немного не повезло с погодой. За три дня до отъезда начался сильный ветер и шторм. В море купаться было нельзя. Такая картина была на всем северном побережье. ездили на Элафониси (это юго-запад) там тоже был ветер. Думаю, что если есть непреодолимое желание покупаться можно поехать на юг, например, в Маталу. Мы ездили в Бали (20 км. в сторону Ираклиона), там бухта и волны были намного меньше.||Короче, нам понравилось. Хорошего отдыха!||Развлечения:||Самый простой вариант, это посиделки в баре отеля. Местный бармен очень любит пообщаться с гостями. Веселые посиделки продолжаются часов до 2-х. Мы, правда, не участвовали. Кроме ресторанов, можно поиграть в минигольф (метров 700 справа по центральной улице). Можно...
