Where to start..... checked into this hotel late at night after a long days travel but buzzing as the stay was for my wedding!!! Our room door handle/lock fell off as we tried to open it to which we were told it was too late to call someone to get it fixed so had to leave the room unlocked overnight. The safe was difficult to use so my partner hid our money (£&€ lots of) In the case but wrapped up in his clothes.
The next day we still hadn’t had our door fixed but had so much organising to do that we couldn’t keep hanging around- had wedding planner to meet and family. We went to the case the evening of day 2 and noticed there was money € missing. We put it down to us being stressed and may have used it or misplaced it.
We ended up eventually moving rooms to which the staff suggested they’d move our luggage for us as we had lots to do....
Next day was our wedding day so lots of people in and out our room (family & friends) had a lovely wedding at le ceil (which is highly recommend along with our wedding planner Alexandra @ gold weddings santorini) we can back and crashed....chilled the day after didn’t leave the hotel so didn’t need to take out any more money from the cases... we’d had English money and euros given to us as wedding presents towards our Mini moon (Mykonos) to which we counted and put away in our clothes.
The day after we wanted to change the English money into euros in order to pay for our ferry to Mykonos, along with our hotel and spending money. My partner went into the case and to our horror there was both English pounds and euros missing..... in total (with the missing money previously) €780 + £80!!! There was no way we’d MISPLACED this amount.....also on the floor I found a room key which I thought was our spare....(wait for it).....
We reported the missing money to our wedding planner to which she came to our hotel to help as I was concerned about the language barrier..... she sat in the back ground listening out for what was being said.
The receptionists were asking us what we wanted to do as they couldn’t give us our money back and said we should have used a Safe.... beginning to feel palmed off....luckily (well not for them) another couple heard our conversation and said they’d had €200 taken from their bag in their room. I then demanded the police was called. Lots of telephone calls taking place to which my wedding planner informed me that they were constantly trying to call a member of the night cleaning staff and she was declining their calls.
I felt they were trying to put us off going to the police as they kept reminding me of how long we would be there and how it’s our last day and we have plans ect, however I insisted we went as I needed a crime reference number to claim on our insurance.
In the meantime family and friends came together to lend us the missing money until the insurance claim is sorted....
We were stuck at the police station for 5 hours..... and felt they were trying to get us to give up! The card I found on our bedroom floor by the case..... when I showed it to the officer the lady who assisted us (and to be fair she was pretty kind and helpful)....her faced dropped as she asked where I’d got that key from.... It was a master key that gives you access to every room in the hotel! One that would never get into the hands of any guests staying!
We filed our report and made the most of the last few hours of our time in santorini....and although some of the staff were lovely you couldn’t help but wonder if you were being mugged off and we’re facing the person who stole your honeymoon fund!
We weren’t given much sympathy or anything on the house as a sorry
I wouldn’t recommend this place massively for what we paid...
And I definitely do not...
Read moreWe booked through Tui but wish we had just booked direct. Sadly our initial impression of a junior suite did not meet our expectations. This I think was down to Tui & their misinformation. So check your understanding of your room at time of booking. Every room is different. The location is perfect. The best place I think on the island for sunsets and just the most stunning views. Two of my sisters had been and I trusted their judgement. Be on the Caldera. Oia and Fira too busy. August must be hell. Imerovigli just the most wonderful base for a holiday. The hotel is a set of 19 rooms (i think) on a steep cliff with narrow steep steps - dodgy knees or any fitness issues please avoid. But otherwise unique and beautiful. The staff were amazing. Special mention to Sotiris who I think was the most hard working and conscientious worker Ive seen. You handled those steps magnificently. Paris you were great too. So helpful and nothing too much trouble. |The lovely housekeeping staff too. I didnt catch your name but thank you for your smiles. Despina on reception you are star. You booked our tours and I really valued how you whatsapped us after our sunset cruise to see if we’d enjoyed it. So sweet!!! However, stop directing people to the archeological museum in Fira - it has been closed for 2 years 🤣🤣 or to the Fish Tavern in Amoudi Bay which was our biggest disappointment 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I |We loved Pearl on the Cliff to eat and Anogi (wonderful food). |I loved my walk to Skaros castle and the little church each morning, our Fira visits and our big walk to Oia (a must do - it’s not that bad a walk at all!)|Wish our room had a full length mirror and I think all rooms should have small coffee machines. Also when you buy a cocktail for 15€ I think a small dish of olives or nuts should automatically be an accompaniment. The prices in Santorini are beyond insane and I think the quality of service and attention to detail is what will make a difference to the long term success of...
Read moreI stayed here with my BF in July/August, and it is in a pretty town perched on the coast overlooking the Caldera.||It is a magical location, and the sight is breath-taking at day time, but particularly at sunset, and the stars in the night sea over the Aegean that follows is spectacular.||We stayed in an apartment with a private view over the sea out to the islands, and had a private terrace and jacuzzi. The interior of the 'honeymoon suite' was cavernous and cool with an Air-con and a beautiful large living area, and equally large bedroom to the rear and a huge bathroom to the rear of that. It really is a blue & white wash of perfect postcard imagery.||Andreas, the evening reception staffer, was a really friendly and helpful person who gave us sound advice.||Breakfast the first day was novel and very cute, however the selection is pretty limited and rather than pancakes, eggs or croissants, more delicious greek fare like yogurt, honey, fruit, olive paste, dolmades, filo pastries etc would have been far better. The coffee sadly also left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately with the circumscribed offerings breakfast was a let down, except for its Aegean morning views.|||As a same sex couple most of the hotel staff treated us with respect, however there were a few who gawked at us at times, making me feel slightly uncomfortable. |The reception staff were excellent again when they allowed us a slightly later check out time, which allowed us to remain in the room after the check out time for a few hours-which was much appreciated. ||I think we were very lucky as it seemed to be relatively quiet when we visited and this meant we could really enjoy the setting.||Overall, I'd have to say it's a fantastic hotel with many spectacular features, and well worth staying at. The breakfast issues would be a...
