Title: A Greek Culinary Adventure at Anogi
I had the immense pleasure of dining at Anogi, a standout Greek restaurant that undoubtedly offers a fresh, distinctive take on the traditional cuisine of the Hellenic world. It's not every day that you stumble across a place that leaves you yearning for more, yet Anogi manages to pull off just that, leaving your palate dancing with anticipation for the next bite.
The Fried Calamari served at Anogi deserves special mention. Its crispy exterior contrasts perfectly with the tender, juicy calamari inside, which is faultlessly cooked to a delicate tenderness. The lemon aioli sauce is the proverbial cherry on top. Bright, tangy, and creamy, it's the perfect partner to the Calamari, creating a symphony of flavor and texture that is, quite simply, irresistible.
In their adaptation of the traditional Moussaka, Anogi maintains the heart of the dish while innovatively adding their own twist. Their version features layers of sliced eggplant, diced calamari, and small shrimp, creating a marvelous sea-infused rendition that takes the dish to new culinary heights. What crowns this masterpiece is the sweet and silky mashed potatoes - they blanket the Moussaka with a comforting embrace, adding a soothing, velvety texture that enhances the overall experience.
Anogi further illustrates their culinary prowess with the Spaghetti with Shrimp, that I'm eager to recommend. The sweetness of the tamale sauce melds flawlessly with the shrimp, imbuing the spaghetti with a delightful oceanic essence. As the jumbo headed shrimp, cooked to perfection, intertwine with the pasta, you can taste the subtly diffused shrimp dashi essence, a stroke of brilliance that sets this dish apart.
In conclusion, Anogi is more than just a Greek restaurant. It's a celebration of culinary creativity, a feast for the senses, and a testament to the transformative power of flavor and aroma. This restaurant has taken the gastronomic tapestry of Greece and woven it into dishes that are not only palatable but transcendent. Whether you're a devout foodie or a casual diner looking for an elevated eating experience, Anogi is the...
Read moreMuch more than five stars!!! This place is definitely worth a visit when in Santorini for their delicious Greek delicacies. My husband and I visited this place twice for dinner, in our three nights stay in Santorini! To begin with the team of this restaurant, Lambros and Chara along with their entire team are extremely hospitable and make you feel so much at home. They are so attentive to each and every guest at their restaurant. From taking the orders for the wine to suggesting which dish would go with your choice of wine, to refilling your glass of wine when it’s about to finish they are extremely efficient. Talking of food, the portions are generous and the food is delectable. On day 1, we tried the seafood moussaka and the slow cooked veal cheeks (the veal was suggested by Lambros). Both the dishes were lip smacking. The moussaka with seafood was so delicious and a very different take on the usual minced meat one, just loved it and the slow cooked veal just melted in our mouth, it was indeed mouth watering! After having this amazingly satisfying meal we decided to re visit the place the next day to try some more of their appetising dishes. Day 2 we went by Lambros recommendation of baby rooster in red wine sauce and chicken souvlaki (since I wished to try this on day 1 and he remembered this order of mine from the previous night.) The souvlaki was great with an accompaniment of pita bread and basmati rice, but what stole the show was the baby rooster, our tummies were full but we still wanted more. It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had. Not to forget, the two desserts we had were equally good and on the house! We thoroughly enjoyed both our dinners. An ultimate gastronomical experience at Anogi. We would definitely visit Santorini just to eat here again. We loved the place so much and the hosts even more.😊
Would recommend a reservation as the place gets full even on a weekday. But they seem to accommodate...
Read moreI just had a pretty frustrating experience at this restaurant. After a miscommunication with the waiter who thought I wanted to pay the full bill in cash, he brought out the bill and told me cash was now the only option. I did not have enough cash to pay as it was our last day in Europe, but was prepared to pay with card as they had full EFTPOS capabilities.
Despite this, they claimed that now the transaction is “in the system, and the method of payment cannot be changed”.
There is absolutely no way that the payment method cannot be changed before the transaction has occurred. What if the waiter had made an error on the items of the bill? What if he had accidentally added a ‘0’ on the end of the total bill value causing a 10-fold error. What if a language error was made between card and cash? Are they seriously telling me there is no way to change the bill if something like that occurred?
I had to venture out to an ATM, get charged over the top international withdrawal fees simply because they were too lazy to alter the method of payment. As a business that relies almost solely on the tourist dollar, and probably profits quite heavily from it, it is very disappointing.
This was our last meal in Greece and it certainly left a sour taste in our mouth on what was otherwise...
