Read moreWe were looking for something to do to stretch our legs after our 5 hour ferry ride and I'm so glad we chose Skaros Rock! We were staying toward the south side of Fira and decided to make the trek out there. I was seriously doubting myself by the time we finally made it to the entrance (we made some questionable choices going up and down the paths getting through town). My husband talked me into doing the hike because who knows when we'll come back. I'm so glad we did! It wasn't too easy nor too difficult of a hike and we saw plenty of people both older and younger than us walking it. The locals recommend walking it in the morning because you're looking straight into the sun in the afternoon but it was a perfect 68°F that evening and we got back into town right at sunset. It's the perfect place for amazing pictures and definitely don't miss the opportunity to walk around the rock to the monastery on...
Read moreIf you look down from Imerovigli to watch the coastline, you will see a piece of Santorini which you don’t see often: a single, small path all the way to Skaros Rock. There is also a big sign there to warn people not to access the area behind the sign because of the danger of collapsing or falling pieces of the ruins. Still, some people ignores the warning and enters that area. That is a pity. It would be great if the government decides to monitor and to enforce avoiding anyone...
