As soon as we arrived, our host was superbly welcoming. We were greeted by the host and her daughter, who offered us a glass of juice and showed us to our room. Phoenix offers a quaint, authentically Greek choice of accommodation which is within walking distance to the city centre of Thira. However there aren't any immediate amenities in the surrounding area, so you will need to venture into Thira in order to find food or groceries. The apartment offers just enough space, with a modest kitchenette included as well as a bathroom. The apartment isn't large enough to spend long periods of time in as there isn't a living area to sit together, so I'd say its a great base if you're simply using it to stay the night. You do get a good sized terrace area though, so if the weather is warm enough, you could eat outside.||||The host can also help book and organise airport transfers and excursions for you. We decided to have breakfast at the apartments for an additional cost of 7 euros each. We were offered a very generous spread; including bread, tea, juice, fruit, toasties, yogurt, muesli/cereal, cake and fried eggs and sausages. For an additional 7 euros, we felt this was very reasonable for the price. There is also a communal pool available.||||The beds were really comfortable, and fluffy duvets were provided in addition to usual hotel issue type sheets which we really appreciated. We slept pretty well, as the area is just enough distance away from the city centre to be very quiet in the evenings.||||This is a lovely, well priced apartment. Great for a short stay in Santorini where prices can be very costly, and most importantly the hospitality of our hostess...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights early this month. The place is a boutique family run property near a camping/hostel site and heading towards one of the villages and residential area so its away from the hustle and bustle of the touisty Fira. It's about 700-1000 odd meters walk from the bus stop. Rooms are awesome, clean, spacious, kitchenette is sufficient and bathoom though a bit small (everywhere in Greece) it's decent. The swimming pool is small or rather tiny but then who wants to spend too much time in a pool in Santorini. The family running the property is nice and helpful. My only grouse was that while checking out, I had requested for a taxi to drop at the port. I had expected a taxi at 11.15 but at 11 am the owner came and said the taxi is here. i was a bit surprised as it was early and was being asked to hurry and only when I came out that I figured that it was a van with 6-7 other people sitting and thats why i had to hurry out. Not that it made a big difference as all were headed to the port but I had expected a private taxi as I was apparently paying a taxi fare. Taxi is a problem in Santorini I figured as there are a limited number and even though we were at the fag end of the tourist season not always available. Then again, the bus service is decent and usually frequent especially betwen...
