This was the worst hotel experience. If I could give this 0 stars I would.|We had originally booked the hotel for 3 nights in September of 2024, to start our honeymoon. |We found bed bugs first on the pillow, and then crawling across the sheets. We brought both bed bugs and photos to the night manager. He told us the only thing he could do was to offer fresh sheets. When we went back to the room, we checked the mattress and there were bed bugs in the seams of the mattress (not just the sheets). The night manager refused to help with anything other than provide fresh sheets. He said that they could look at getting us a new room the next day, once they could put someone else in our current room (even after he acknowledged the bed bugs).| At that time, we did not feel comfortable staying in the room and we left. We had to find a new hotel that night at 11pm.|The next day, Golden Star offered to change our rooms. The reception did acknowledge the bed bugs, but the manager/owner refused to speak with us.| They let us check out a new room, and it was very apparent they have a bed bug infestation within the hotel that they are refusing to deal with. There was excessive staining and markings of bed bugs with the new room. Golden Star refused to provide a refund for those two nights. We were left having to scramble to find a new hotel last minute and had to pay for a new hotel. |This was by far the worst hotel experience and a horrible way to kick off...
Read moreThis is a lovely little modernised hotel, with elegant white and gold bathroom tiles etc, situated just below the main streets in a quiet location overlooking the east coast/sea, in Fira, Santorini. It's an uphill walk, hit the first road, turn left, immediate right, up to the next road, from there chose left and you get to the bus station (cheap transport all across the island, which goes regularly) or carry on going uphill to get to the caldera with spectacular views looking north (to you right) to Oia (the famous blue domes), and south (left) to the lighthouse. Staff are lovely, place is kept very clean. Can highly recommend.
In Santorini, visit 'On the Cliff' for food and beverages, Yogi on the pedestrian end of the main road for gyros can be recommended in Fira.
In Oia search out direction for Roka Restaurant....follow the beautifully painted blue wooden signs (Fantastic food, quaint courtyards, sea views to the east), also look out for a small wine supplier called Cava Oasis, where you can buy your produce and imbibe your product on a few seats on an open courtyard offering shade, if required with large flower pots, very quaint idyll (not a cafe, no service as they have no licence to do so, however the manager will give you quality plastic glass to use for your use, also sold are none alcoholic Firefly drinks which are a delightful find, along with a few deli items, which you could pair with...
Read moreAfter spending the first night in a dump of a hotel, we started looking online for a different place to stay and came across the Golden Star Hotel. Not wanting to book before we saw it in person, we went there to check it out. The place is beautiful, clean, well-kept, and the staff was absolutely amazing. The girl at the reception, Anastasia, was so incredibly nice and welcoming. She even offered us a small discount when we arrived, let us see the room. When we checked in one hour later, after getting our bags, our room was already ready, even though it was still early morning. The welcoming glass of wine was a nice and completely unexpected touch. Everyone was exceptionally nice and friendly during our stay. When the guy from the night shift noticed we were tea drinkers, he gave us a kettle to use in the room. The lovely woman who cleans the rooms is also so attentive. The whole team is amazing and have everything under control. Rooms are cleaned daily. In addition to fresh towels, you also get pool towels as well as toiletries. The pool is incredibly clean. The location is great - you're in the center of Fira within a few minutes. Plenty of restaurants and small shops in the...
