Me and my wife spent our honeymoon here on halfboard (they don’t cater for all inclusive). Overall our stay was great, comfortable and cultural. We enjoyed exploring the island and seeing what Santorini has to offer.
There are a few things that kept us from leaving a 5 star review, some of our points should be expected from a 5 star as standard, comparing to other 5 stars we have stayed at.
We would come back but wouldn’t stay at this hotel.
// General points Our stay was well enjoyed. Staff and TUI reps extremely friendly and helpful, although there is a bit of a language barrier in some cases which is to be expected. It is great to have reps on site rather than having to call them.
Room service is efficient, the cost of items are not inflated, but a tip is suggested as the staff are bring food and drink to you. All orders are placed through a web app which works well. The same web app is used for poolside and beach orders.
The beach is great, the black sand isn’t too stoney which is nice. Loungers on the beach are comfortable, although there is a stationery umbrella which blocks the sun, so repositioning of the sun loungers is required.
The poolside sun beds are comfy too.
The Spa is outstanding and the massages we both had were pleasant.
// The room (specifically 526) We had a Deluxe Double Room with balcony and private whirlpool for our stay. In general the room was lovely, kept clean daily and the staff did a fantastic job.
The shower was perfect, we both love the rain styled head which can be angled to your preference. There is a hand held shower head. The hotel also provide shower gel, and shampoo/conditioner.
The bed was comfy and very big, so plenty of space. There is no duvet in the summer months, only a sheet and blanket. The bedside has and an EU plug socket as well as a USB socket which is handy, you will need an adapter for USB-C.
The TV was hung crooked, it didn’t affect viewing but looked very unprofessional considering this is a 5 star hotel.
The hotel provide coffee and tea making facilities, however that is where the positive end. Once you use up your allotted 2 Nespresso pods and other sachets, they do not replenish them free of charge. We were dumb founded when the staff said it was €2.50 (at time of visiting) per Nespresso coffee pod, inflated by 4-5x the price of a single pod when purchased in a pack from a shop. Absolutely disgusting for a 5 star to not replenish these.
The balcony was good for lounging but that was it. Considering it is 5 star there was no view, unless you enjoy looking at a white wall, a mural by a local artist would have been better to look at. The whirlpool bath is a good addition, albeit not heated. You’d get better use out of it when the warmer weather arrives. The round sofa and other chairs and table were handy to have.
// Food and drink Food is very well priced on their snack menu, very competitive with prices outside the hotel. We didn’t begrudge spending the odd day at the hotel when the weather was bad and paying for room service etc. Their pizzas are outstanding, so recommend buying once, especially the Greek one.
As expected, beer and wine is massively overpriced. 0.5ltr Mythos at the bar is €6.50, in the shop it is €2.10. Wine is similar at about €6.00 for a glass.
The hotel charges for water at €3.40 per 1ltr bottle at meal times. I’d expect water to be included for free at meals as they make an absolute steal on drinks throughout the day. They also do not replenish the room water that is in your fridge upon arrival. Once it’s gone it’s gone. Feels like a gut punch when you shouldn’t be drinking their tap water.
// Outside the hotel There is also a lovely bar, 5 minutes walk away, that is always busy called Dorian’s Pub that sells incredibly cheap drinks. You can also order food that comes from Grandma’s next door.
Checkout Grandma’s for their great 30cm Gyros, absolutely lush and filling. Their other food is reasonably priced and delicious, staff are fantastic too.
Plenty of local souvenir shop and food shops for...

I recently stayed at TUI Blue Meltemi for 11 days on what was meant to be a surprise holiday for my boyfriend. While the room and views were absolutely stunning, the rest of the experience fell far below expectations — particularly for a hotel that markets itself as five-star.
Let’s start with the positives: the room was modern, clean, and beautifully situated with breathtaking views. It even had a private whirlpool, which looked amazing — but unfortunately, it was so cold that it was completely unusable in the evenings, which was incredibly disappointing considering how much we paid. The housekeeping staff, however, were fantastic. They kept the room absolutely beautiful throughout our stay, always provided fresh towels (often more than once a day), and were so friendly and warm every time we saw them. There was also a gentleman who came to check the whirlpool every day — he was so lovely, polite, and always greeted us with a smile. Both he and the housekeeping team were a credit to the hotel.
Sadly, the rest of the experience did not match the room or housekeeping service. The food was average at best, and the service in the restaurants and bars was extremely poor. Drinks were either forgotten or brought over wrong multiple times, and on more than one occasion, they arrived halfway through our main meal. Plates were left uncleared for long periods, and we often had to ask for them to be taken away while staff just walked past. This lack of attention to basic service is not what you’d expect from a high-end hotel.
The entertainment was repetitive — it was the same singer performing most nights, she repeated the same set of songs for each genre every week- so once you have seen one night of a theme, the next week was the exact same. The only enjoyable night was karaoke, which stood out simply because it was something different.
One of the most frustrating parts of the stay was an incident involving my personal belongings. One morning, I placed towels and a bag on our sunbeds and went back to the room to get ready. When I came back out, all of our belongings had been removed and someone else was on the bed. I was told by another guest that if you leave your bed for more than 20 minutes, the staff take your things — again, something we were never told. I found my belongings tossed in a pile at Reception, completely unsecured. When I spoke to staff, they said it was a “new policy” due to people complaining there weren’t enough beds. That alone says the hotel can’t accommodate all of its guests properly. To make matters worse, the hotel does not offer any lunch at all, so guests are forced to either leave the resort to eat or grab a small snack from the bar — which obviously takes longer than 20 minutes. This made the policy completely illogical and totally unfair. At a so-called five-star hotel, you shouldn’t have to worry about your belongings being removed simply because you left to eat — especially when the hotel doesn’t even provide a proper lunch option. We did raise a complaint and spoke to the manager, who was very kind and reassured me multiple times that she would “turn the stay around” for us. She followed up once via email but never came to find me personally in the hotel, and unfortunately, nothing changed. No improvements, no further communication, and no recognition of the issues — it felt like empty promises.
Despite everything, we still had an amazing time overall, but that was mostly thanks to exploring the lovely local villages nearby. We found ourselves leaving the hotel often just to enjoy better food, service, and atmosphere elsewhere.
All in all, for nearly £5,000, this experience was a letdown. A beautiful room and wonderful housekeeping can only take you so far — poor service, inconsistent policies, and a lack of basic hospitality completely ruined what should have been a special trip. I would not return and would not recommend this hotel as a...
Read moreOur stay at the Tui Blue Meltemi was outstanding. We stayed in October for a week, to escape to Santorini during the quieter period and avoiding the crowds. Perissa is a wonderful location that I recommend highly - a bus to Fira and Oia is very easy and you get to be on the quieter part of the island with lots of nearby restaurants and a lovely beach. The hotel has its own private section of the beach.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by George who was an exceptional staff member and acted as our guide for the week. We were able to go to him with all our questions and every day we were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly face. Nothing was ever too much to ask. On top of this our room was presented beautifully, we had an exceptional view, the whirlpool was fantastic and we had so much space to relax and leisure. The rooms were kept immaculate, housekeeping was exceptional.
The pools are lovely, there is a big pool at the front but we thoroughly enjoyed spending our time at the quiet pool. The bar there was manned by two gentlemen who always greeted me with a hello and a smile, made me feel right at home and provided excellent service day in day out. Even when I tried to order outside of the bar hours they took the time to explain all the operation hours and where else I could go in the hotel to be served. It was a pleasure to chat to them every day when we went down after breakfast.
The entertainment provided is great fun, there was never a dull evening as we chilled in the bar after our meal. Rebecca, Jenny and Joy were all brilliant at keeping the party and energy going. Eva was fantastic at making sure we always had drinks, and frequently checked in to make sure we were having a good evening.
Finally, Dionisis and Lukas behind the bar made sure that every night we had a great time, they were always so friendly and welcoming, gave us recommendations of nearby restaurants and places to visit, nothing was ever too much to ask and made sure that we had a night of laughs, smiles and fun on every day of our trip. But better than that, they also knew when we wanted to have a quiet night of playing cards by ourselves. They are masters at hospitality, and will make sure you feel very looked after during your stay. They can make an excellent margarita.
I would thoroughly recommend staying here, and we can’t wait to go back. You can have a good pool, restaurant and bar at many different hotels in Santorini but what you will get at the Tui Blue Meltemi is all of this but made even better by the wonderful staff who work at this hotel. They will make sure you are relaxed, enjoy every day of your holiday and I honestly the people who looked after us on our holiday were what made our vacation so special. They even taught me some Greek during my stay. George, Lukas, Eva, Dionisis and all of the staff would always say hello, ask how we were and would always ask if they could help with anything. The service was...
