This proved itself to be one of our favourite restaurants in Perissa. Over our one week stay, we ate here at least three times. To make this as informative and concise as possible I’ll combine our visits into one review.
The restaurant is beach front with a well-designed, shaded dining area with additional rows of sunbeds and parasols on the beach. These are free to use if you are buying drinks or food from them.
Breakfast was a great deal. English breakfast was 15 Euro each. This included any hot beverage and, large glass of orange juice. Two toasts with butter and Jam. Plate of Bacon, mini-Sausages, Three eggs, & baked beans. All the food was hot, fresh, and well presented.
We had two lunches. The first was a Garlic Shrimp starter. Well cooked, very garlicy and succulent. Followed this with two plates of grilled Sardines served with potatoes and salad. All hot, fresh and well presented. We accompanied this with the house rose wine which was more than acceptable.
Our second lunch was on our last full day. We did push the boat out a bit for this one as we knew our holiday was coming to an end. A big bowl of steamed Mussels was the starter, tasty and perfectly cooked. Tender and flavourful. Looked very appetising. My wife then enjoyed the Lamb Kleftiko. Slow cooked shank in an earthy sauce with feta cheese. Very tender indeed. I went a little further and had them create a seafood platter for one. This is not something that is on the menu, but they did it for me anyway. This was grilled Octopus, whole Squid, large Prawns and grilled Sardines. Was cooked perfectly, very well presented.
Service was attentive and professional without being intrusive. The restaurant was clean and tidy. All the glasses clean. Wine and beer served cold. Everyone was very friendly.
Should we ever return to Perissa this will be on our go to list. Well done and wishing you a good...
Read moreIt's another one of a long line of large Greek tavernas along beach road with open fronts and an excess of Greek regalia that makes you question their authenticity. It was busy on our visit but it turns over it's many tables quickly so there was no wait. During the daytime the restaurant looks out across beach road to the beach, at night the road is pedestrianised and the beach disappears after the sunset. The open front and sides let the Santorini winds provide what can be quite blustery ventilation but it definitely gives it that seaside feel. The choice on the menu is massive, in common with most of the tavernas along the beach, illustrated with pictures of some of the dishes. I had Santorini specialty tomato fritters for starter and sea bream for mains; both were fresh, well cooked and tasty. Digestifs of limoncello and ouzo were offered on the house to round the meal off. The bill was quite reasonable, about €55 including plenty of house...
Read moreThe menu said vegan and we ordered these dishes only to find out that each had egg and dairy in, when we said this to the waiter he said it was okay and suitable it only had cream and Mayo in. Considering they had vegetarian labels and vegan labels separate on the menu we thought would be fine to eat, clearly there is no understanding about the definition thank god We weren’t allergic to dairy or egg. The staff were very rude about the issue and ignored us then we had to get them to remove the dishes we had to send back and not eat from the bill again they were really not happy and made the issue seem like our fault and not their own menu, they only removed one dish from the bill and wouldn’t listen to that the others had cream in very horrible atmosphere and rude, went...
