We stayed in the new part of the hotel in one of the "suites" with its own private plunge pool on the balcony.||The rooms are very chic and modern but they aren't very big, do not have a great deal of storage space and are not what I would expect from a "suite". The designers have favoured style over practicality.||The balcony is very small (more of a wide ledge) and not really big enough for 2 people. There are cushions as it's too narrow for normal chairs. The plunge pool was full of dead insects. The plants in the corner of the outside area are plastic and look cheap. ||Inside the sleeping area is a bed on a raised platform. The bed was very comfortable and in the morning you could open the curtains, lie in bed and look outside, which was very nice. However you couldn't have a cup of tea in bed in the morning because there are no bedside tables as the bed is on a platform with no space around it. You also can't watch TV in bed as the TV is on a side wall.||You have to go up 2 tiled steps either side of the bed to get into it. In the dark it would be easy to fall on them when you need to get out of bed to go to the loo. ||The lower part of the bedroom area has 2 armchairs, a small table and a dressing table/open wardrobe unit that also has a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities (but no spoons for stirring your drinks). There is nowhere to put luggage so our bags were all across the floor and we had to move the table and chairs to avoid tripping over them on the way from the bed to the loo in the dark. ||The bathroom facilities are on a slightly higher level than the sleeping area and are mostly "open plan". The sink is immediately behind the bed, separated by a low wall. The loo is separate behind a frosted glass door but the sink isn't with it so you have to go out the loo to wash your hands, touching the door handle as you go, which I personally find unhygienic. The shower is very good and the toiletries and towels are lovely. ||Our room wasn't properly clean - there were long dark hairs left from a previous user and the floors were not swept when we arrived and felt gritty under bare feet.||The main outside pool area is very nice but the pool isn't very big and is triangular. The sunbeds looked very comfy.||Breakfast is served in the open sided beach bar. The food was really good but the weather wasn't good while we were there so having breakfast outside in a beach bar when it's chilly and raining really isn't very nice and doesn't make for a pleasant experience. We were really cold by the time we got back to our room. We couldn't understand why they didn't move breakfast inside when the weather was bad. On the second morning most of the chairs were wet and we had to dry them off while the staff watched on. The roof isn't really a roof but a sun shade so the rain came through the gaps in it. ||The walk from our room to breakfast involved going down a very slippery metal staircase from pool level to beach level. There was a similar staircase going from the suites to reception.||Overall the hotel seems to be very unsuited to anyone with mobility issues as lots of steps and the swimming pool has nothing to hold onto when entering it via the steps at one end. A lot of the levels are reached by metal stairs. Disabled travellers should check all access issues direct with the hotel before booking. ||In its favour the hotel is in a lovely area, on a beach, with a good bus service stopping outside - and there are some great places to eat nearby. ||The staff, especially Sofia on reception, are really nice. But overall I think the new suites have sacrificed comfort and practicality for a chic modern style that is quite austere and not very welcoming. ||We had a peek at the rooms in the original main hotel building and wished we had stayed in one of them as they looked like more comfortable traditional rooms - they were beautifully decorated and furnished with bedside tables!||We paid a lot more to stay here than the other hotels we stayed in during our holiday and we felt the others were more comfortable, more welcoming and far better value for money.||I would return to the area where the hotel is located because it's really lovely there, but I would find somewhere...
Read moreA great find in a superb location. The original hotel was taken over by a Greek family a couple of years ago and in April this year they completed the addition of a separate block containing 9 luxury "suites" and the prize of an outdoor swimming pool. An unusual triangular design beautifully set adjacent to the original building and the new suite block. At its longest point it measures 23m so it is possible to enjoy a decent swim. Poolside is beautifully laid out with sufficient sunbeds and parasols. It also enjoys service from the beach bar.We stayed in a poolside room in the original hotel. Good large bad with ample storage and floor space. The bathroom was a reasonable size with a walk-in shower cubicle. All perfectly adequate but a bit tired so it was good to hear that the owners plan to modernise the rooms in this building probably during the next winter months. |The new beach bar where breakfast, snacks and light lunches are served was lovely with ample seating giving choices of sitting in the shade or in the sun. Food selection was fairly food for breakfast with a mix of cereals, greek yoghurt, fresh fruit, breads, preserves, greek cakes, cold meets, cheeses, cooked bacon, eggs, sausage, fruit juice, tea & coffee. The staff through from reception to bar and the housekeeping team were an absolute delight and couldn't do enoght for you. My wife had a few days of not feeling well and the care and concern that they showed was fantastic.|We have now visted Skiathos 3 times, always in Megali Ammos. It is a great area with several very good restaurants within very easy reach an good supermarket just opposite and bus stop 5 on the doorstep. Skiathos town also just a leisurely 10-15 minute stroll away. Although the hotel is situated on the main road the rooms and pool area are still...

We were truly amazed by this hotel — it’s beautiful and exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The pool area is gorgeous, and our room had a breathtaking sea view, which made the stay even more special.
Breakfast is served as a buffet and costs €15 per person. While the selection is a bit limited, it’s more than enough and everything was tasty and fresh. The beach and beach bar were fantastic, offering a wide range of snacks and drinks. It’s a great place to relax.
We struggle a bit with the air conditioning as it did not works very well. It would also have been nice to have room slippers and a bathrobe, especially considering the hotel’s standard. The sunbeds on the beach cost €20 for two loungers and an umbrella, but that’s understandable since the beach area is operated by the Serenya Beach Bar and not part of the hotel’s private facilities.
The location is excellent — only a 15-minute walk to the town center and port. There’s a bus stop (line 5) nearby, with tickets at €3 per person one way. However, we chose to rent a quad instead, as the buses seemed very crowded and we wanted more freedom and flexibility to explore the island and access remote beaches without long walks.
Another minor negative: the jetted tub in our room looked beautiful, but the water was cold and not very clean.
Finally, for those renting a quad, scooter, or car — be cautious when exiting the hotel onto the main road. The access is on a steep incline with very limited visibility, which can be dangerous.
In any case, I highly recommend the...
