Wow what can I say about the Galaxy Hotel spent a week at the end of July 2025. The room on the whole was pleasant but the air-conditioning was very difficult to use as the room was either freezing cold or boiling hot. The drains in the bathroom were open And at certain times of the day these were emitting quite a pungent smell which made it quite awkward to relax in our room the breakfast was a self service one which had the same items on each day and as we found out on the first day if you leave something half eaten on your plate This is then recycled back onto the display by the owner’s wife I have visited many hotels around the world I’m amazed that this practice goes on and indeed in plain sight of the guests it would be closed down in the UK !!!!!|The other issues that we had was on arrival it was a very hot afternoon and we’ve been travelling all day. Thought that we would go for a swim in the hotel pool so without unpacking everything we put on our swim outfits and went to the pool with the hotel towels Only to be scolded by the hotel owner and told us no in certain terms that hotel towels were not allowed by the pool near the pool anywhere around the pool even though these towels were extremely throwback and had seen better days we had adhered to these rules and went back and got our own towels out of our packed luggage Issues around the pool seem to continue on a daily basis. I was staying with my daughter age 12 who loves the swimming pool but seemed to be the scapegoat for anything that the owner wanted to vent his anger on I wasn’t allowed to stand in one part of the pool and was told to move. I wasn’t allowed to walk around the pool as it made wet marks. I wasn’t allowed to sit on the seats near the pool as it made them wet there were quite a lot of things that we weren’t allowed to do also we had a lilo given to us by one of the other residents One afternoon and we moved this from the pool area to where we were sitting and again were scolded by the owner telling us that there was no plastic allowed in the pool and even though I protested and said that we weren’t going to use the lilo in the pool but we were merely moving the item which have been kindly donated to us. He got quite an animated and started shouting at myself and my daughter totally unacceptable behaviour|We also had an incident with the owners elderly mother who sat on her chair in her room overlooking the pool staring at anyone in the pool on a daily basis and indeed especially my daughter making her feel very uncomfortable on the second day she came out of her room on her balcony with clenched fists Shouted something in Greek and got very animated. She could hardly walk and remonstrated from her balcony towards us for a couple of minutes this was extremely upsetting and I have no idea why or what she was trying to communicate to us but felt it was just another issue with the owners and the famil, directed towards us|I decided to have a word with the owner on the third day as we felt really uncomfortable swimming in the pool and asked him as he sat by his bar as he did throughout the day and evening watching TV if he had a problem with us to which he turned around and said that no he didn’t have a problem but then grabbed my shorts and told me that I shouldn’t be walking around with wet shorts as it was making the patio wet quite what this has to do with anything I was at a loss!!!!| all in all a hotel has a good location. The facilities are good however the owner is extremely difficult to get along with and makes the stay very unhappy so much say that my daughter didn’t enjoy the last few days of the stay, and as it was her first visit to Greece I feel that it was quite upsetting to see that we were treated in such a way I hope that this feedback has passed on to the TUI administrators who decide where to book as I feel that this is not somewhere that TUI should endorse on the island of Thasos or at least if they do endorse this hotel then to make it very clear that families are certainly not welcome in any...

Read moreGreat Hotel in a good location to access Thasos Town|Rooms really modern, clean and comfortable. Aircon, fridge and safe are included. We had a ground floor room which has a shared outside space, I would prefer my own private area but not a deal breaker.||Pool area was nice and never busy. Most people seem to go out. The whole complex is very clean and modern.||There is a bar but no food is available lunchtime which means you have to go out or visit the supermarket.||We hired a car for a few days to see the island. Visited Paradise beach and Aliki beach. Potentially they are very nice but they are absolutely packed with eastern Europeans. We noticed very dirty habits with fag buts and food just dropped on the sand and left. Big groups also drinking beer all day then getting in their cars.||Another problem was the swarms of wasps which are worse at the beach. Tried eating lunch but had to give up when we were bombarded by wasps.||It was the same in all the taverners lunch times you just couldn't enjoy your food. Didn't seem too bad in the evenings. It seems that the wasps are a real problem at the moment.||The roads are good but again full of eastern Europeans expecting you to drive fast when you want a more leisurely pace and then overtaking on dangerous bends.||The island is very pretty with great beaches however this is spoilt by the sheer volume of tourists on the island. You cannot park anywhere and in the town it's so crowded you cannot pause to look in a shop without someone being...
