We arrived at the restaurant around 8:40 PM and were told to wait. I was with my mother, and we patiently stood aside expecting to be seated in turn. A couple before us was seated, and we thought we were next. Instead, the staff began pushing tables together to accommodate large groups, completely ignoring us.

One man in particular stood out in the worst way. An elderly man with white hair and glasses acted in a manner that was shockingly inappropriate and disgraceful. When I asked if there was a table for two, he opened his arms and said, “If you don’t have a reservation, sit on my lap,” pointing to himself. This was not just rude. It was vulgar, offensive and deeply disturbing.

When I tried to speak to him again, he began shouting, turning red in the face and stepping aggressively toward us, speaking so close that his saliva was landing on us. It was disgusting and entirely unhygienic. He clearly had no intention of treating us with basic respect and instead gave all his attention to large groups, ignoring smaller parties like ours.

A couple nearby actually left because no one came to take their order. As I attempted to ask if their table might now be available, the man chose instead to seat another large group and continued to shout over me.

We have been coming to Thassos for many years and have always experienced kindness, hospitality and warmth from the people here. This man’s behavior was the complete opposite of what this island represents. His attitude was not only disrespectful, it was aggressive and perverse. I will be filing a formal complaint with the local authorities about his inappropriate comment and physical behavior.

We had one of the best meals of our entire Thassos trip at Thassian Doukas. Everything — from the food to the service to the view — was absolutely top notch. If you’re looking for authentic Greek seafood, exceptional flavors, and professional service, this place should be at the top of your list.

We ordered a variety of seafood dishes, and every single one was a hit:

Grilled octopus – incredibly tender with a perfect char

Fried calamari – crispy, light, and flavorful

Shrimp saganaki – rich, savory, and beautifully balanced

The portions were generous, the prices were more than fair for the quality, and the atmosphere was elegant but relaxed. The seaside setting is stunning, especially around sunset — we stayed longer just to enjoy the view.

What really stood out was the staff — kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. They made great recommendations and made us feel genuinely welcome.

This was my first visit to the restaurant this year, and it’s clearly one of the more popular evening spots in the area. As sunset approaches, the number of guests increases noticeably, and a short queue may form at the entrance. Still, we were seated within 10–15 minutes, and considering the overall atmosphere, the wait wasn’t bothersome.

Among the dishes I tried, I opted for the fried calamari. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver the fresh sea flavor or the crispy texture one would expect from freshly prepared calamari. I suspect a frozen product may have been used. The presentation was simple — adequate for the average palate, but not particularly memorable.

The salad menu offers a good variety. The Greek salad, in particular, stayed true to its classic preparation and was generously portioned for two people. The ingredients were fresh, and the olive oil had a light, clean profile.

The service staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. They were efficient with order follow-up and maintained good communication at the table, which added positively to the overall experience.
