The hotel is listed as a 2-star on Google and Booking.com, but rated as a 3-star by TUI. My review reflects my personal experience and not the official star rating. That said, I do agree with TUI's assessment – this hotel deserves a solid 3-star rating.||1. Arrival and First Impressions|We were warmly welcomed by the staff at reception, which is also the area where meals are served. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful, and informative.||2. Room and Location|We had a pool-view room on the first floor. Please note there are no lifts, so if you have mobility issues, this could be a challenge. However, there are plenty of ground floor studios available.||Unfortunately, there was a foul sewage smell near our room for the first two days. It seemed worse further down the building. And you also have to pay for Aircon for 7 nights it was 40 euros. For peak summer, you expect it to be included as the air con is already in the room. You pay to get the remote control (However, cant complain at that though because it does state on the website it will be charged). The TV in our room didn't work.||3. Cleanliness and Room Maintenance|At first glance, the room appeared clean. However, when checking the bed sheets at night, I noticed small holes and old blood stains - likely from bug bites or scratches. Since it was late and reception was closed, I didn’t report it. I simply removed the sheet and left it folded to the side - but it remained there, untouched, for the rest of our stay. Was strange for housekeeping to not remove the sheet.||On day four, I placed our used towels on the floor to signal they needed changing. When we returned, the towels had just been refolded and placed on the bed ,stains and all. I repeated the process the next day, and they were finally replaced with clean ones, however we ended up purchasing our own towels in the end.||The bed was firm but comfortable. Pillow-wise, two felt too high, and one felt too low, but I still managed to sleep well. The rooms are somewhat soundproof, though not completely. For example, karaoke nights (which go past 11 PM) did wake me.||The shower was never cleaned during our stay. Water pressure was poor and inconsistent, sometimes scalding hot, other times freezing cold. The bathroom tiles were cracked, and there was noticeable black mould. The toilet struggled to flush properly, possibly also due to the weak water pressure.||Surprisingly, no soap was provided in the bathroom, which felt unhygienic.||4. Food and Dining Experience|The first night was a BBQ night delicious and well-prepared. The second night featured liver, which isn’t to my taste, and there weren’t many alternatives. However, after that, the meals significantly improved from fresh, tasty, and of good quality. Just be aware that choices are limited overall, especially for vegetarians.||Highlights included pork souvlaki and lamb kleftiko. Lunch options (available to purchase or swap from half-board) were also excellent.||Desserts were limited to one option per day it would be great to see more variety, perhaps even an ice cream alternative. The fruit option was limited to slices of watermelon.||Breakfast was repetitive, with the same items served daily. More fruit options, yoghurts, and maybe different style eggs (Boiled. Pouched, scrabbled) would be appreciated to change it up a bit. Drinks included tea, coffee, and orange juice. Unfortunately, no drinks are included with dinner.||If you want hot food at dinner, arrive early (7:30 PM). We arrived at 7:50 PM one night, and the battered fish, though freshly made it had gone quite cold. It would help if the hotel used food warmers to maintain temperature.||5. The Bar|George at the bar makes phenomenal cocktails, some of the best I’ve ever had. Honestly, his talent is wasted here; he should have his own bar on the island! Highly recommend the Banana Split cocktail. Cocktail Drinks range from €8 to €13. While reasonably priced, a happy hour or pitcher options would be a welcome addition.||6. The Pool|The pool was clean, deep, and very well maintained throughout our stay. A great place to relax.||7. The Beach|The beach is within easy walking distance. Even during peak season, there were plenty of sunbeds available. Bring sea shoes due to sea urchins.||8. Atmosphere|The hotel has many returning guests, and it offers a simple, laid-back atmosphere. Very calm, relaxing, and peaceful. Ideal if you're looking to unwind.||9. Exploring the Area|If you enjoy adventure like we do, definitely take some local tours. Otherwise, you may find the days a bit repetitive. Their a lovely Large supermarket with a Costa attached which is really nice.||If visiting monasteries, bring lots of cat food! One monastery in particular had around 15 hungry cats. There’s reportedly only one monk there, and he’s described (even on the tour) as feeding them “when he can be bothered.” I brought dry food and only one tin regretted not bringing more!||10. Final Thoughts – Would I Recommend It?|Yes. It’s a peaceful, relaxing hotel with friendly staff. Maria is helpful and bubbly, and George is absolutely brilliant behind the bar. Curtis (if I got his name right) came across a bit rude and lacked people skills, but overall, the staff are lovely. Also according to the other guests Curtis was supposed to collect our suitcases on day of departure to drive them up the street to our pick up (This was the same for arrival as they were picked up) but he didn't show up, however this could be mis communication from the other groups of guests.||Would I return?|Nope, not because I disliked it, but simply because I love exploring new places and islands. I did enjoy...

Hello dear potential customers! I will try to summarize my experience at this hotel, in strong and weak points, with my group of friends at the beginning of this month (September), in Thassos at Hotel Zafira. The strong points can be the location of the hotel, which is in Skala Rachoniou, on the beach and in an area with a lot of vegetation/shade on the beach. We can also add the clear and suitable water of the beach for families with children, but it should be noted that in the beach area of the hotel where we stayed, there are also sea urchins. The swimming pool was another plus, being properly cleaned and a fun place for children. The rooms do not look bad (the triples we stayed in), which seem to have been renovated in recent years. I come back here, on the accommodation side, with the weak points! The staff was ok. An important aspect and after the discussion with my brother-in-law(ho has been there 2, 3 years ago), I discovered that the location, newly renovated a few years ago, doubled its price from 65 euros to 130 euros. Nothing wrong so far, but it seems that some services have not been improved in the meantime. I noticed that the breakfast was created for a certain category of customers and that one is more on fast food. Breakfast(very poor) remained the same throughout the vacation! Taking into account that there were also families with children, I mention that there was not a variety of fruits and vegetables at breakfast and at this price. Just sliced watermelon and sliced tomatoes and mushrooms in the pan/oven! I don't understand why in Greece and at this price, they didn't think to introduce a cheese (feta) and some vegetables (cucumber, normal tomato, green and red pepper), as well as some fruit's(bananas, peaches, nectarines, oranges)!? But maybe they have no intention of doing this and their interest is inclined towards a certain category of tourists! Also at breakfast I found spoiled/spoiled butter! We were probably luckier with this product, if it fell on us... I'm attaching the picture! A small detail, which makes the difference and I'll leave it up to you to draw the conclusion, is the one where at breakfast the water was put in plastic bottles from the tap, to make it look like it was bought from the store! Why not put it in to a carafe!? 🤷 Another minus was the smell of sewage/shit/sewer, which we had every day, both outside the building when we entered the room, and in the room, when we returned from the beach... during the day! This was also confirmed by the other friends in the group! Renovation seems to have been done quickly before, especially in the bathroom where the shower, after several washes, it broke down. Another aspect was the lack of hot water at lunch in a few days of this vacation. So I had to wash myself with cold water and the rest of the family. With these remarks and at this price, I cannot recommend this location and I will not frequent it again in the future! Everyone has their opinion about everything, and this is mine, about the Zafira hotel! Everyone, after being properly informed, can draw conclusions in...

This was my fifth visit to the island, the last being 15 years ago and this my first to Zafira. The room and all communal areas were exceptionally clean, including the pool which was maintained daily. Down side of the pool, literature given at the beginning of the stay states, pool opens at 11am which isn’t ideal. Breakfast, I had read a few reviews which said breakfast wasn’t very good. There were a lot of options, Greek yogurt, ham, cheese, cereal, bread, a toaster to toast, Greek pastry, a good selection of hot, Greek equivalent of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, fried egg and one day, boiled eggs, there was also a wide variety of teas. |The room, as I have previously said, was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the pillows and mattress had protectors, sheets and pillow cases were spotless. |We had a fridge which had a small freezer, I took a plastic ice cube tray which came in very handy as there wasn’t one. |My board was bed and breakfast which suited as there are some very good tavernas in walking distance, my favourite being Olga’s, I was spending around €20 on an evening meal including a glass of wine and tip and the portion sizes tend to be very generous. |The hotel is on the beach and there are a large number of free sun beds. Beach shoes for the water would be wise as there are sea urchins in the sea. |There’s a well stocked supermarket about 15 minute walk and the same distance is the bus stop which can take you into Thassos town €2 as opposed to a taxi for €20.|There were a couple of negatives, these however didn’t impact as I was on B & B, had I been on half board I would have been disappointed and my rating given would have been lower. |At breakfast the meal choices were given, two meat and one vegetarian. Out of the eleven days I was there Greek food was on the menu a handful of times, one one occasion the vegetarian option was Mozzarella sticks and onion rings. At the beginning of our stay those on half board were given the choice of evening meal or a lunch time snack. This suited a lot of people to have that choice, however halfway through the week there was no option only evening meal |All this said about the board option, I enjoyed my stay so much I’ve only been back 1 day and I have already booked to go back next year. When booking my last stay had a choice of B & B or all that can be booked now is half board. I may try a few meals but I suspect I will forego the meal and head out to the tavernas as they are so good. |This is one of a few places I’ve been where the majority of people staying were repeat customers , I’m...

Nota 9.
