Terrible experience, do not stay here. No water, toilet didn't work. We had a nightmare stay, were also overcharged and then never fully reimbursed. We booked two nights in August but had to leave after one because we woke up in the morning and the toilet would not flush, nor did the bathroom have any water, so we couldn't shower, brush our teeth, or anything else. The only employee on duty was very young and inexperienced and had to call the owner constantly. After being asked to wait while they made repairs, they finally told us it would actually not be repaired anytime soon- we had already lost our morning in Antigua. To not waste more time, we asked to be reimbursed for the second night we would not be spending there, and looked for another hotel. Honestly, they should have refunded us for the first night because waking up to a toilet that doesn't flush and a room with no water is not exactly the expectation you have for a romantic stay in a hotel - but they didn't offer us anything. Instead, the employee completely botched the refund and ended up charging our credit card three times, so we paid for three nights instead of just one. It was a disaster that required multiple calls and messages to the hotel's owner, which for weeks led to nothing. We also tried to put a block on the charges with our bank, but that was also unsuccessful. In the end, after over a month of back and forth, the owner only refunded us one night of what was charged to our credit card - and then complained to us about how much he spent to make repairs in the faulty room they gave us which had NOTHING TO DO with us. He also tried to blame us by insisting we could have said something sooner about the water issue which took place at night WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. We stayed at Casa de Madeline for four nights in January 2025, and it was an excellent experience. This charming boutique hotel has only seven rooms, offering an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. Located on the outskirts of Antigua, it provides a peaceful retreat away from the city's noise while still being conveniently close to restaurants, stores, and tourist attractions. It’s about a 15–20-minute walk to the center, or you can take a tuk-tuk for Q20-30. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in a stylish Guatemalan design. The courtyard was stunning, filled with lush plants, and featured a warm jacuzzi—perfect for unwinding after a full day of exploring or hiking. However, the true highlight of Casa de Madeline is its exceptional staff. Every team member was incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely dedicated to making guests feel welcome and special. They went above and beyond, anticipating our needs before we even voiced them. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Antigua. Sin embargo, lo mejor de Casa de Madeline es su personal excepcional. Cada miembro del equipo fue increíblemente amable, servicial y realmente dedicado a hacer que los huéspedes se sientan bienvenidos y especiales. Zatrzymaliśmy się w Casa de Madeline na cztery noce w styczniu 2025 roku i było to wspaniałe doświadczenie. Ten uroczy butikowy hotel ma tylko siedem pokoi, co zapewnia kameralną i relaksującą atmosferę. Położony na obrzeżach Antiguy, oferuje spokojne schronienie z dala od miejskiego zgiełku, a jednocześnie jest na tyle blisko, że można łatwo dojść do restauracji, sklepów i atrakcji turystycznych. Spacer do centrum zajmuje 15-20 minut, a można również skorzystać z tuk-tuka za Q20-30. Nasz pokój był nieskazitelnie czysty, wygodny i pięknie urządzony w stylu gwatemalskim. Dziedziniec był uroczy, pełen bujnej roślinności, a także wyposażony w jacuzzi z ciepłą wodą – idealne miejsce na relaks po całym dniu zwiedzania lub wędrówki. Jednak prawdziwą perełką Casa de Madeline jest jego wyjątkowy personel. Każdy członek zespołu był niezwykle miły, pomocny i naprawdę oddany sprawieniu, by goście czuli się mile widziani i wyjątkowi.
