Rainbow Cafe is a restaurant with delicious healthy food (including vegetarian and gluten-free options) and a funky and relaxed atmosphere. I ate there twice for lunch during my time in Antigua in November 2016 and loved it.
They have a great menu and serve a variety of delicious Guatemalan and international cuisine including lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options as well.
There is also a small used bookstore inside the building at the front of the restaurant and a shop with local and handmade products (purses, chocolates, coffee, natural beauty products, postcards and more). In the evenings, they host NGO lectures and live music.
The seating is at rustic wooden tables which are situated around a central courtyard. I loved the super chill, comfortable and funky atmosphere here. I ordered the vegetarian tofu stir fry, fresh fruit smoothies, and a salad during my visits and would recommend all of these dishes. They were all delicious and flavourful!
This small cafe is the perfect place to hang out and enjoy a tasty meal in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely eat here again next time I...
Read moreI recently visited Rainbow Cafe for a quick bite and drink. While the food and drinks were okay, I felt that they lacked a certain level of care and attention to detail. I ordered the nachos, and while they were tasty, they were quite small and didn't feel like they were made with a lot of love.
On the positive side, the ambience in the cafe's yard was really lovely. It's a great spot to relax and unwind with friends or colleagues. However, the music selection was a bit of a letdown for me. The 90s music felt outdated and didn't quite fit the vibe of the cafe.
Overall, Rainbow Cafe is an okay spot to grab a quick bite and drink, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to visit again. While the ambience is nice, the food and drinks could use a bit more care and attention, and the music selection could be updated to better match...
Read moreAntigua has been delivering over and over this week with food, so I'm super disappointed in the food here. Since Im a vegan i know options are usually limited at places that aren’t vegan. The veggie sandwich I had was flavorless and needed sauce on the bread; it was only roasted eggplant and red pepper on sliced bread, when i think it was supposed to be a roll. As a vegan, I understand that food is a hit or miss but I was expecting more from this place. I asked for sauce or a smear of hummus or something on the bread and i was told i had to order a side.
Service was good and the girl was kind.
Pitfall: cleaning the floors with super strong chemicals while people were eating. Super...
