Where do I begin. I have travelled a lot, and experienced a variety of different vibes in the places I stay. Brothers will always hold a truly special place in my heart. The facilities are the nicest I came across for the price they offer in all of Guatemala. You are right on the lake surrounded by volcanoes and perfect views from the rooftops and rooms. There are multiple hot showers so you can have one on your schedule. Plenty of stuff to use and share in the kitchen, and Aaron's cooking is out of this world. He will share his home made bread with you and spring rolls, soup, pretty much any restaurant-grade wish of your dreams. You can learn anything from this man! He takes care of his own organic garden, creates probiotic drinks, spins his wool. Ross, Aaron, Chickpeas, Squibby, Rainbow, Severus and the rest of the chicken family have an eccentric healing energy about them that is rare. They give you tons of space, as the lake is a place all of us come to work on ourselves and heal... but they are right there for literally anything you need, any odd or strange request (I had plenty) or to do up your hair (color AND dreads dude). So many hammocks and cozy places around the guesthouse to relax and the wifi is again, the best I came across in Guat. I came back to brothers so many times over my past months traveling in Guatemala. It was my place when I was sick and needed to heal. It was my place when I was looking for a community to meet other people, to feel comfy with and explore. These dudes real time healers and a blast to giggle around, and they know how to run their business so well it doesn't ever feel like its a business, just your beautiful home on Atitlan. Some of the best vibes, I am so lucky to come across. I love you guys so much. I will be back times a...
Read moreBrothers guest house||I would struggle to find anything negative to say about my stay at Brothers. I felt at home from the moment I met Aaron, Ross and Karol, they are warm, friendly and welcoming. I had been on the road for six weeks travelling through Mexico and Belize, waiting to find a place that felt wonderful enough to stay put for a while and this was 100% the one for me. There is a real family vibe here, the communal kitchen and living room area make it feel cosy and encourage a real community closeness. ||||The garden is absolutely wonderful, Aaron has such a beautiful passion for nurturing and an incredible talent for creating clothes. He is also a top class cook and a truly magnificent human.||||Ross is a fantastic man, talented in all things hair related, amongst many other things. It felt so great to be back in a salon (a beautiful one at that) and bouncing creative ideas around with someone of a similar mind. He also makes a killer cauliflower cheese. The relationship that the boys have as brothers really emanates through the whole living space making it feel loved.||||Karol is a beautiful soul inside and out. Queen sewing bee, well travelled and brilliant coffee maker. It was lovely to feel such an instant connection and to share our birthday celebrations. To add extra sweetness there are three adorable dogs to cuddle whenever you want to feel some love. I feel SO thankful that my journey took me to this spot and I got to spend three and a half weeks feeling part of this family. ||||Having a private room to myself for such a reasonable price was the icing on top of the cake.... I could probably write an entire essay listing all of the things I loved about living here (if this isn’t already long...
Read moreI love love love this place and the Brothers - Aaron and Ross! It felt like home right away, I didn’t want to leave. The vibe of the Brothers is so kind and the people it draws are all open and wonderful travellers. I was so sick when I first arrived and Aaron immediately made tea from all his homegrown herbs. The place has such an ecclectic charm with moss ball plant hangers, little secret garden spaces, hangout areas, bubbly fermented concoctions, and crafty projects underway. It doesn’t feel like you are staying at a business, it feels like you are staying with long lost friends on a four-story pirate ship. I had so many delightful morning conversations and laughs with the Brothers and other travellers in the crows nest overlooking San Pedro. The rooms are clean and spacious, there is a shared, well-equipped kitchen (with free beans, rice, and coffee!), and community spaces. You can even buy produce from the garden. The bathrooms are nice with some homemade herbal body products. It is super well priced to boot. ||While I was there I also got my hair done with Ross. It is the best cut and color I have ever had. Seriously. Be careful, because now I may have to go to Guatemala just to get this done. Transplanted from the streets of London right to your hostel in Guatemala. ||If you need super fast internet and don’t like stairs, this isn’t your place. But if you like unique people, plant curiousities, interesting coversations...stay here! You will...
