Don Diego’s Restaurant — Restaurant in Sololá

What a wonderful suprise is Restaurant Don Diego in San Pedro!

So many times we have walked passed this place, primarily because is it usually quiet and quite rustic, but I am so glad that we took a friends advice who said the chef Diego was truly excellent, and that this place was a hidden gem.. and it was!

Everything was freshly prepared and was served in huge portions. The meat was marinated and flame grilled to perfection, as were the potatoes, and the dish came with a very generous avocado salad.

My husband chose a Chinese dish that was also delicious and plentiful. He also has a house red wine that was actually really good!

The service was excellent. We were waited on by his smiley wife who had their 5 month old baby strapped to her back.

There was nothing pretentious about this place, it was warm, welcoming and the food was wonderful, as where the prices.

Don Diegos also provides a take away delivery service. This is our new favourite...

The service and food was perfection. I ordered the chicken chow mein, huge portions and it was well worth the price although it’s one of the more costly restaurants in San Pedro

**edit: I’ve repeatedly ordered from this restaurant and have tried all of the dish options (ex. Wantans, soup noodles).. Their menu has a variety of options and as a Chinese tourist I was really impressed by their specialties (orange chicken and sweet/sour chicken), as well as the soup noodles and fried noodles. Their wantans and fries rice options could be improved on the other hand as they were quite plain. The spring rolls caught my eye as I was craving for them, it was tasty however it could be improved if their sizes were smaller, and if there weren’t large chunks of vegetables. Cost wise, I would say it’s expensive however worthy because they serve huge portions and give quality service. You would expect to spend around...

A little difficult to find when the doors are down, but I promise you it is worth it.

Don Diego and his staff are friendly, helpful, talented and you can tell they put a lot of love and pride into their food.

It did take awhile for the food to arrive but, once again, well worth it.

I could tell the food was made all in house and the portions were massive! For a guy like me that is critical.

Great prices, great people, amazing food, big portions.

A must try!
