We were here two weeks ago approximately. We were in the city for 4 nights and had booked a table here for the first night. We bought tickets for the metro and got all the way there. When we got there they could not find our booking, despite us booking two days before. The staff was rather rude but he promised we would have a table tomorrow. The day after we came back and first they couldn’t find our booking but finally they could find it. We got seated and received the menu. The staff were very busy and were running all over the place. 2 glasses were dropped by a waiter and it flew glass right by our feet twice. We ordered 3 soups. The gulasch soup was delicious, however the two other soups were mediocre. After a while the main courses arrived. One chicken, one beef cheek and one vanison. The chicken and the vanison were dry like a desert. The potato served with the chicken was like eating flour mixed with potato. The beef cheek weren’t as dry but not tender at all. The potato served with it was probably store bought potato fingers. Not ONCE were we asked how the food tasted. We were completely ignored for the entire duration of the dinner and had to ask for the waiters attention. When the waiter came to pick our plates he did not ask how it tasted, but we let him know that the meat was way to dry and he offered us coffee in return which we declined since we wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. They had the guts to charge 15%!!! In service fee which is horrible as we received the worst service I’ve experienced. We were very disappointed as we had heard a lot of positive things from friends and from google, but most of them are probably from a long time ago. Perhaps this place has seen its best days. We will not be able to share the same positive experience to our friends and family after this experience, there are many restaurants that deserve this way more.

Cozy interior Good gulasch Rude staff Poor food in general Way to busy to have a nice evening Overall atmosphere is horrible. 15% service fee...

Our recent dinner at Rosenstein Vendéglő, unfortunately, fell short of the high expectations we had based on its reputation. While the restaurant boasts a cozy and casual ambiance, our overall experience was disappointing, particularly in terms of service, food quality, and value.

We were a party of four and were served by Tibor, whose demeanor was far from welcoming. Instead of enhancing our evening, his abrupt manner and strong opinions left us feeling uncomfortable. A friendly and attentive waiter can elevate a dining experience, but sadly, this was not the case during our visit.

Our meal began with Cracklings and Beef Tartar as appetizers, followed by Lamb Soup for a couple of us. For the main courses, we selected the Cordon Bleu, Veal Cheek, Fried Fish, and Veal Leg. While the food was passable, it was far from remarkable. Each dish lacked the depth of flavor and finesse one would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation. The mains, in particular, failed to leave a lasting impression and did not justify the premium pricing.

For dessert, we tried the Kaiserschmarrn and the Chestnut Purée with whipped cream. While these traditional options held promise, they too were underwhelming, lacking the richness and refinement we had anticipated.

Overall, the meal was “okay” at best and didn’t live up to the hype that surrounds Rosenstein. Coupled with the steep prices, we left feeling that the experience did not deliver the value we expected. While the restaurant has a casual and comfortable vibe, the service and food need significant improvement to match its reputation and justify its cost.

It’s possible we caught them on an off night, but given the number of alternative dining options in Budapest, we are...

It was the worst restaurant.

The staff's attitude was extremely rude and unpleasant. As soon as we entered the restaurant, he looked at our faces, sighed deeply, and looked annoyed and annoyed. His attitude was the same when he took our order. When we received our food and were eating, he didn't check if it was to our taste or not. The only service we received was the use of tables and chairs. However, we received more rudeness and unpleasantness than service. The staff demanded a 10% tip even though they did not provide us with any service or kindness, but rather were rude. This was because it was written in small letters on the front of the menu. They did not even tell us about this in advance. What was even more absurd was that we did not receive any apology or explanation for their rude behavior. When we asked them why they were rude, such as sighing, they only said something completely irrelevant, such as "tips are supposed to be accepted." That staff member does not provide service to customers. The staff's behavior toward us felt like racism, and it actually continued to be like that.

The food was also disappointing. The steak was very tough, and the pasta was greasy. It was a shame that I paid 18,000 Ft.

I visited the restaurant because it was near my accommodation, but I regretted not going to McDonald's. In fact, the McDonald's I ate the next day was much better.

The taste of the food that I was disappointed with was the worst because of the rudeness of the staff. This restaurant was the worst in terms of food and service among all the restaurants I visited in Budapest and Europe. Visiting this place was the most regrettable action...

One of the oldest Jewish restaurants in Budapest offers a great dining experience that nicely blends traditional Hungarian Jewish cuisine with a touch of Hungarian flavors. The extensive menu, spanning around 20 pages, is filled with delicious options, making it a haven for food lovers. Each dish reflects the rich cultural heritage and tradition, and the quality of the food is excellent. While the prices are on the higher side, they are quite reasonable given the quality and authenticity of the dishes. The service stands out for being warm and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere of the place. The restaurant also takes pride in offering its own house wine by Nimród Kovács, which perfectly complements the flavorful meals. The interior design reflects the restaurant’s desire to maintain its traditional roots. However, it could benefit from a slight refresh to make it more appealing while still honoring its heritage and unique charm. A subtle update could enhance the dining atmosphere without losing the historical essence that regular patrons have come to love. Overall, it’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to explore the depth of Hungarian Jewish cuisine in Budapest.
